Russia: Traffic Police Find MiG-31 Labeled As 'Scrap'

Topic started on 29-9-2003 @ 02:22 AM by Nans DESMICHELS

Russian police detained the driver of a truck hauling a disassembled
MiG-31 "Foxhound" strategic interceptor plane labeled as scrap
metal, authorities announced on Sept. 26. Traffic police reportedly
discovered the plane on Sept. 25 after they stopped the truck near
Saint Petersburg.

Nans,

But was it damaged?

Or something.. or just disassembled?

But otherwise in good condition?

And we do know what like the MiG-31 looks..

What is the point of this post?

Was it stolen?

Or are you just trying to imply that MiG-31 is 'scrap metal?'

Most likely organised crime. It was probably destined for the US or one of the Arabic countries.

This is why Russian law-enforcement forces must use lethal force..

They cant sell a state-of-the-art interceptor to a enemy..

This is sick.

No, it was disassembled...for weapon traffic ! The plane was in piece to being sold somewhere. May-be it's not the first MIG-31 wich go out from the russia. you know, since CCP fall, many bases, weapons, vehicles... are let in the state of abandon on old base. The pix I posted was not to show you a MIG-31 but to show you how the russian bases and materials are in abandon...

Nans,

That pic of MiG-31 that you posted shows only MiG-31 and MiG-23BK/BM or -27 Fighter bomber in a museum.

I know, but even for a museum the ground and the planes seems to have no maintenance.

i know there are some places in ex-USSR like that with military materials let at the abandon.

Last year, the french DST catched some guy's in paris with a nuclear combustible from USSR and some military ports in UKRANIA or SIBERIA are really scarey about environemental and security problems.
