Pat Robertson, the TV evangelist notorious after his comments on assassinating Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has now claimed that the current and recent natural disasters around the world herald the second coming of Jesus Christ and the end of the world. Robertson cited passages in the bible saying the last days will be marked by "the birth pangs of a new order, and for anybody who knows what it's like to have a wife going in labour, you know how these labour pains begin to hit". When asked if the current events meant that the world was reaching that point now Mr Robertson answered that it was possible although he also admits he has no special revelation to say it is.

"These things are starting to hit with amazing regularity," Robertson said in an interview with CNN, pointing to the coincidence of a major earthquake that killed thousands in Asia yesterday and recent killer hurricanes in the United States and the Boxing Day Tsunami.

Devout Christians believe that the "last days" will be marked by political and geological upheaval, and Mr Robertson said recent events show that those days might have arrived.

"What was called the Blessed Hope of the Bible is that one day Jesus Christ would come back again, start a whole new era, that this world order that we know would change into something that would be wonderful that we'd call the millennium," Mr Robertson said.

Asked if the world was reaching this moment, Mr Robertson said: "It's possible. I don't have any special revelation to say it is but the Bible does indicate such a time will happen in the end of time. And could this be it? It might be."

The Earth has been in upheavel and if one does subscribe to the bible as being fact and Revelations actually being a truthful prophecy then it's possible but scientific evidence has shown that the worlds problems may be due to Global Warming and not a religious event.

What about the part pertaining to false preachers in the second coming?

My Family believes in Christ, and believe in things mentioned in the Bible. Another thing we believe is that God works through people and events to prove things... Global Warming may not be predicted in the bible, but some of the things happening that may have been caused by Global Warming, are.
Today we decided that we are either in, or very close to the "end of times" there have been various wars as predicted in the bible, and with recent CIA information we now have rumours of wars.
Next year our family will be moving closer to town and we'll start stockpiling food like we did during the Y2K scare.
Get ready, we're in for a roller coaster... even if the things predicted in the Bible aren't true, things aren't exactly looking like a field of daisies for the human race.

Edit:
False Preachers are everywhere dude

But if you mean the false prophet, these "birth pangs" are supposed to be a bunch of terrible things that happen before the big ol' Antichrist reign, new world order business.

I hope its true. I've heard over and over how the end of the world is coming and not once has anyone gotten it right. If they get it right once then maybe i'll actually start believing it.

Everything is getting all topsy turvy in this world anyway. Sex is suppose to be a way for our species to continue on into the future, yet the AIDs virus is spreading so rapidly in Africa that an ungodly large portion of the continent is infected and dying. How is it spreading? Sex. Whole tribes are literally screwing themselves into extinction. Now I have to ask, how ironic is that?????

I guess i'm a bit flip on the subject because i'm really not a big believer in the whole death issue. I've said it many times here, It would be easier to stop the sun from shining or the season from changing then to stop the growth of the eternal soul.

Thats my thoughts on it anyway. Love and light,

Wupy

Pat Robertson is a fool and so are his followers.
The Earth'sclimate is cyclical and this period of increased numbers of hurricanes has happened before there was any thought of "global warming". We'll still be here in 25 years when the hurricanes' frequency and strength decline again aqnd all the environmentalists will be singing hand in hand as the global temps decrease--again. But by then, all the Pat robertson wannabees will be proclaiming the shift in the poles and the DECREASING temps as an indication of the second coming. How do I know these things?? I was told by a burning bush!!

Well, at the look of things form a christian perspective, man it's frightening, and to those who claim to be ready for the Lord's return, it's the`` BLESSED HOPE``.

But coming from the mouth of a Blasphemous preacher as pat robertson, I will dismiss it as ole talk. But the alarm and frequency of such disasters, are real frequent. why because hundreds of years before, news took a while to get to the frontpage of the London Times or whatever paper. the tech , to spread news, and disinformation did not exist at that time.

But I wonder why old Pat did not discuss, Wars and rumors of wars, and assasinations and rumors of assasination plots?

Pat days of glory are fading fast, now he is just an old man that wants the end of the world to come fast, but at the same time he spends a lot of money and time looking for the fountain of youth.

For some reason when its natural disaster in the world many of the religious leaders like to capitalized in the events to keep their supporters hook and scare of missing salvation.

Too funny. If they get it right (the end of the world) why would you need to start believing.

After all, you will be dead !

Just kidding with you.

It's also interesting that biblical prophecy tells us that despite all the warning signs people will keep living normal day to day lives and ignor the signs of The Christ's second coming.
It isn't the end of the world that these are signs of but a build up to the great war between satan's army and The Christ's before His Kingdom is established on the earth.
Saddly most of the worlds people will be deceived into worshiping a false christ who they believe will "save" us from the worlds mounting woes. Despite all the horrors that imperfect man has inflicted on the world throughout history most will still look to man to save mankind. You can read that fact on these threads every day.

Hey those pesky men that wrote the bible were very good at making sure that you would not believe anything else but the god of Abraham.

I have to given it to them they were pretty good with words, occurs after Christianity stole the Jewish god and linked to the Christ they have not other choice but to stick with him.

I am a christian and I go to church regularly, of Course I believe in Christ's Second coming, Hey alot of people in the world are scoffing, and as the bible say, they will say where is the sign of his coming? But the fact of the matter, the matter of how he comes and the right wing interpration of his coming is abit screwed.

Only our Farther in Heaven knows THE HOUR but He did warn us to watch for the signs and there arn't that many signs yet to happen but those remaining, despite their specifics, will still be argued away by most.

Great Pat, get the message out. YOu gotten the LAW down fairly good, but it is starting to wear thin. Can you start talking about the GOSPEL now? as in what people should be doing now that the end is near? Like praying and forgiving peoples sins against them, and beliving in Christ?

No?

What kind of Christian are you then?

A rise in the Pat Robertson's of the world preaching a false Gospel and leading many astray is also a sign of the aproaching return of The Christ.

Ahh....pat robertson is a deranged old coot...he's probably referring to his viagra and got his metaphors mangled. the fact that anyone takes him seriously says less about him and speaks volumns about his followers.

Ya have to remember that there are 2 Jesus's at work here

A) Christ
and
B) Christ

A) Christ or (Antichrist) is what a majority 80%+ follow...such as Pat Robertson, LaHaye, 700 club and all the eye for an eye fundies ya see around. They shout Pro Life save the fetus,,,but let the weak, disabled, and murderers all be killed is generally their position.

B) Christ or the (Bethlehem) Nazarene true christ a very few know.
Well,,,ya wont miss him becuse you'll be on your knees balling like a baby when he comes. Not in pain though....you just wont be able to understand why he has loved you so much all along, it will be almost too much to handle.

My question is, why would he come around 2000 years ago and then wipe everyone out 2000 years later?

And Pat Robertson is a quack.
