Coming Soon: 40,000 Iranian Suicide Bombers

A London based Arabic newspaper, "Asharq Al Awsat", has reported that Ayatollah Muhammad Taki Misbah Yazari, the top spirtual advisor to the Iranian President, has called for volunteers to join an army of suicide bombers to safe guard Islam againsts its enemies. The group was started about 6 months ago and is being trained by the "Revolutionary Guard" and the "Jerusalem Column". The training includes classes on explosives, as well as, the Arabic and English languages.



It appears that that Iran is ready to heat things up and things are not going to be pleasant if this report is accurate. Scary stuff, I am left with more questions than comments.

Will they wait until attacked or will they use these bombers in a preemptive manner?

Are some of these bombers already deployed?

They are planning to have them trained to be deployed to Iraq to spread further collateral damage, and to be stationed in Iran, to wage guerilla warfare if and when, the attack begins.(which in my mind is hardly likely)

The most likely explanation is they have seen how much harm suicide bombers can do in Iraq and though "Well if we get invaded, let's give them hell" and what better way?

i did not post the story, i am only commenting on the story. which is only a story, it got no verification for me.

You claimed they were being trained to be used in Iraq. So is that all personnal opinion then?

yea my personal take, listen, they are not going to send them to iraq, now, if and when a attack comes, (i doubt it) they will attack, at all points of the compass, plus they could stir the shia majority in Iraq to rebel.

Look my personal opinion on this is :

Isreal is waiting for the us to attack, but both parties know Bush's hand is tied, they are still smarting from iraq. Isreal needs airspace, or flyover rights to attack. They can't risk to attack, when the reactors are full. it will be disaster, and war.. they can't risk war in the Middle east, now, this is not 1967, times have changed, and there are young hot blooded muslims of every ethnic field to strike, everywhere. Forget worldwide condemnation, cause all the world can do is condemn it. Isreal can't depend on it's spy agency MOSSAD to gather intel on Iran;s intentions. they are highly reliable, they want war than anything else anyway.

So the buck stops at Bush's white house.

There is a much more important place to BushCo than Israel, Iran or Iraq and a few thousand people could bring that Nation into a Civil War, shut off oil and cause massive amounts of problems easily...Saudi Arabia.

And maybe it's just propaganda from the British against Iran to star a new war. USA made Afghanistan and Iraq wars, now it's time to British to start wars and the next war will be start by who against who?

USA against Venezuela? Israel against Syria? South Korea against North Korea? Australia against Indonesia?

War benefits only the people manufacturing the weapons with sales to opposing sides. But I highly doubt isreal will attack,cause if they wanted to attack, they will have done it a long time ago, too much is at stake. I remind you guys again this is not 1967. This is 2005.

To the author, please provide other sources for this story. Ynet is the website of the Yedioth Ahronoth Group, which is a large Israeli media corporation. Considering Israel's attitude to Iran, this is far from being a reliable source.

I have an idea...
if Iran decides to use these suicide bombers... then we do the same except without the suicide part... why bother dying to kill others?

I can understand that they would want to be prepared...
the sabre rattling has gone on far to long without some response... but use them... why?

Amazing revelation this is not. The story is two months old for god sake. If this were true or even had one hint of creditability more then one obscure news network would have also picked up on the story.

I am curious. How is this article considered propaganda considering some of the other ones that I have seen? If you agree with it then it's fact and if you don't agree then it's propaganda. The easiest way to show that it is propaganda is for you to post sources that show that it is inaccurate. I am hearing in the news this morning that bombs set off in Iraq may have an Iranian or Hamas connection. Hmmm. Hamas suicide bombers + Iranian support for Hamas = possibly true article. Simple math.

This story is old - but unfortunately far away from being propaganda.

On July 2, 2005, Al-Arabiya TV broadcast a report on an Iranian movement of suicide bombers with the aim of targeting Americans in Iraq and Israel.

The volunteers said they wanted to carry out martyrdom operations to liberate Islamic lands and stated that so far 40,000 "time bombs" have been recruited.

Tehran, Iran, Jul. 22 – A military garrison has been opened in Iran to recruit and train volunteers for “martyrdom-seeking operations”, according to the garrison’s commander, Mohammad-Reza Jaafari.

Jaafari, a senior officer in the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), told a hard-line weekly close to Iran’s ultra-conservative President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that the new “Lovers of Martyrdom Garrison” (Gharargahe Asheghane Shahadat, in Persian) would recruit individuals willing to carry out suicide operations against Western targets.

In order to achieve all-round readiness against the enemies of Islam and the sacred Islamic Republic and to protect the foundations of Islam, the Lovers of Martyrdom Garrison plans to organise “a martyrdom-seeking division” for each province in the country from the martyrdom-seeking and brave popular forces of that province and give them specific and specialised training. We therefore request all our pious brothers and sisters, who are committed and determined to defend Islam, if willing, to submit two photographs of themselves, a copy of their identity cards, and the filled-in application form below to the following address, so that preparations for their organisation and training could begin:
