Hersh: children raped at Abu Ghraib, Pentagon has videos
From Daily Kos´ partial transcript of a video (link to REAL stream) of Seymour Hersh speaking at an ACLU event. He says the US government has videotapes of children being raped at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

" Some of the worst things that happened you don´t know about, okay? Videos, um, there are women there. Some of you may have read that they were passing letters out, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib ... The women were passing messages out saying ´Please come and kill me, because of what´s happened´ and basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. And the worst above all of that is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror. It´s going to come out."

Feature includes details on the identities of the Iraqi prisoners shown in those widely-circulated photographs -- including Satar Jabar (charged with carjacking, not terrorism), whose iconic hooded figure with wires attached is derisively described by many Iraqis as the "Statue of Liberty."

Everyone knows there's hundreds of photos and some videos that the Pentagon are holding. We've heard how horrid they are but no real descriptions of what they depict (other than from Al-Zarqawi who seems to know what's in them).

Don't get your hopes up that this will just be 'lies', it will come out when it's time and if it really does hit the fan like it's expected too, a dog will no doubt wag it's tail. Nick Burg phaze two.

Sorry, I just couldn't hold back when you were inferring that the ACLU was behind some actual fair reporting. This is hear-say, as in gossip, unless someone comes forward with some actual evidence. This ACLU informant ( ) wasn't there, can't show us the evidence, doesn't know anyone first-hand that was there. It's nothing more than gossip.

Well there is the fact that the ACLU has sued to get the video and pics released and they have won and the pentagon is still fighting to keep from releasing them. It must be something horrible in them for them to fight so hard to keep from releasing them. If they had nothing in them I doubt they would care.
Seymore Hersh is the reporter who broke the story about the slaughter of the village in Vietnam and as such he gets calls from folks who has access to this kind of info.

You've all seen a little bit of what they did to the men - the stuff that was allowed to be released that is.

If they did that to the men, what did you think they would do to the women/children?

Sexual perversion aside, if they thought humiliation was a fair interrogation tactic for the men, how much more effective if they humiliated their women and children?

My hope is nothing...though the Pentagon's opposition to their release indicates otherwise.

We will all learn soon enough what they contain. (That is, if the court order stands.)

If they are released, I have no doubt they will be bad enough, even if they do not rise to horrid levels speculated here.

What will be worse for me is learning not that these horrible acts took place, but that not all of the perpetrators involved were prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.

We shall see.....

You give Mr. Hersch a little too much credit for My Lai. LT Calley's trial was already over, he was already convicted, he was already serving his prison sentence.....two months before Mr. Hersch "broke" that story.

This "latest" allegation by Mr. Hersch...is from January 2004. There is still NO proof or substantiation to any of this "breaking story".

Dear God, please don't let the allegations I'm reading on this thread be true.

I know they just re-tried that female guard and gave here 3 years for her part in it, surely they would have given her a stiffer sentence if the allegations above are true. And what's this about Iraqi guards raping children & women? What happened to those guards? I'm sick of the stench of this story and have been since it first came to light. Round everyone up who had anything to do with it and punish them appropriately, even if that takes in Rumsfeld.

Not trying to revive an old conspiracy just setting the record straight on who Hersh is, thats all. You are right about the fact that the arrest had already been made and ignored by the press for the most part, the thing is that Hersh followed up and interviewed the soldiers who were there and brought it to the public's attention.

I guess that's why the Military does not want the entire World to see the Abu Gharib Videos and the Picture Archive.

I have just been reading the PDF transcript of what is allegedly supposed to have happened.

The whole translation is worded in "American terminology". If the Iraqi who was held, then surely the transcript would have some minor errors in English when translated?

How would an Iraqi know where a particular soldier was from by his accent, unless he had a vast knowledge of 'American dialects'?

I think he is "blanked out" because of his accent, and he was not skinny or short, and he acted like a homosexual (gay).

The whole transcript reads of made up rubbish. There is no absolute proof that this event even took place.

The whole of the above is my interpretation of what i read. There is nothing to convince me that the title of this thread 'Abu Ghraib Videos Show Children Being Raped ' is true. The video link did not work when i tried it. If the allegations are true, then why have no other media covered it? This should be in the forefront of any News station. Maybe i cannot find it for some reason? I have tried, honest...............

All the fuss about a stack of naked men...when it is not much more than effective interrogation tactics. On the other hand, women and children should BY ALL MEANS be left out of that situation. If there is solid proof of molesting children, string 'em up by their toes and skin 'em. Raping women would be another serverely punishable crime. But playing dress-up with enemy combatants for information on "decapitators" and suicide bombers is well worth the payoff. If it would save some of my brothers-in-arms from being made into some grotesque propoganda video, I'd do it. Done to get their twisted "rocks-off"?...give 'em some jail time.

P.S. I'll reserve judgement until they show John Q. Public these "damning" videos. If they are never released...fooey...they never existed. Incitement of the enemy so we can stage more attacks...

Even if the MAJORITY of the Prisoners were Guilty Until Proven Innocent and most of the were at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong religious belif and nationality?
