A strange tanker, 4 F22, a blackplane looking like aurora...

Yes.

It is probably a photoshop concept presentation.

(The black one). Dont ask me how, but it's an experimental plane for VAC at hypersonic speed...(Dynamic Geometry Span)

Not this time DR. I will go to bed soon, but I'll explain how the wings of this plane can get bigger and smaller, depending of speed of the aircraft...

A suivre...
(To be continued...)

If its a plane type proposal, its obviously a 3D rendering of the scene and complete fakery. Not a real photo. That doesn't negate the possiblity of the reality of the black triangle craft though.

The wings of this plane can be in or out like a "range". When the plane go faster, the wings come in and the resistance of the air on the structure of the aircraft is lower. and when it go slower, they go out, the wing span in increase and the reliability and the maniability of the plane is bigger.

It dont look like a photoshop... Look at the sun reflecting on the reactor...

greetings all.

the tech for modifying the wing shape of aircraft has existed for several years now! its even become comercial in anothe form...i belive its called "memorymetal" or something similar and is used for glasses that retain their shape even when bent badly. applying the same tech one coul in theory make this metal change shape depending on the temerature: set temp = diff shape. Because of air friction wing shape could be modified automatically or even by passing a current thought it i suppose.

i read about this YEARS ago with proper spending there is no doubt in my mind that it could have come a looooong long way

I dont think this airplane contain any metal. This must be in titane like the SR-71 or even in Kelvar.

Belive, it is fake..
Sadly.. I for one really would love to see the real thing if there is one to be seen.

Think for a sec tho ... Say it is real, those F-22's need the tanker cuz the Black plane can go furthur than them. The F-22's are prolly escorting it. Does look like a rendered pic tho

Kevlar isn't very good for this type of thing.Although it's strong it get's fractured with stress. There are many newer better "exotics" .Modern Carbon fibre is pretty good or a combination of Carbon fibre and exotic.

Must say though that the full wing mode would be good for fuel efficiency(Though there is greater resistance you wouldn't need to maintain such a high speed to retain altitude) where as the mode above would be better for maneuverability.
Personally I think there are too many problems here.

The pressure airflow of of the forward wing would be disturbed by the rear wing. The rear wing could also be an elevator though but I'm not sure how effective it would be trailing so far behind the forward wing.

*sigh*

Read the caption.

proposal

\Pro*pos"al\, n. [From Propose.] 1. That which is proposed, or propounded for consideration or acceptance; a scheme or design.
To put forward for consideration, discussion, or adoption.

You don't have to "propose" something that already exists.
Sure, the program might have come some way but the picture is an artists impression.

Dont you think its this plane ? (This gif comes from a governemental source...) It's the aurora (or the future "official" aurora...
)

Aurora: it's highly unlikely that kevlar is used - it just doesn't have the heat tolerance. Carbon leading edges like the type used on the leading edge of the space shuttles, yes. The actual airframe could be built out of titanium and stainless steel. Yes, I said steel. Certain steel alloys now have a strength-to-weight ratio as high as aluminium alloys. Liquid methane would be used to cool the leading edges before being burned as fuel. Methylcyclohexane (MCH) might also be used (although that's related to cyclohexane which ain't nice but you only get as a byproduct of nylon production). The skin runs at about 1400 degrees farenheit so it's HOT. I personally think it skips in and out of the upper atmosphere to cool off.

www.fas.org...

OK, noids, go track where the cyclohexane is going...

... oh, and the cyclohexane is cracked into toluene and hydrogen for combustion. Neat-o.

The black triangle in the picture is a govt. CGI for a possible Mach 3 strike bomber. I've seen a much closer-up image of it rendered in a different image. Amusingly, it's faceted for stealth - when it's glowing on IR at 400 degrees!

I think this is a fake picture that was painted by a really skilled artist,or even a guy really good with a digital camera.

My guess is that this is a promotional piece of artwork made by lockheed to both advertise its tanker ideas (though I thought Boeing was thinking of a diamond wing) and show how it will be the main supplier of combat aircraft in the future.

If that's so... Is this an indirect confirmation of Aurora?

BTW, only two of the fighters are F-22s. The other two are Joint Strike Fighters.

Considering the tanker is a proposal and not anywhere near production, why is this even a topic of discussion? Even if they already had an experimental box-wing tanker, do you think the military would loan Boeing aircraft, including one black-project one, to take a picture?
For cryin' out freakin' LOUD!!
