At the end of the day, the biggest tragedy is that there were people still in the city of New Orleans when the storm hit... there was plenty of warning, so why didnt the government provide emergency transport to evacute the people who couldnt get out themselves?

Why is it when something like this is looming the rich can escape but the poor are then left to fend for themselves. If your government can commondeer busses to send troops in, why cant they commondeer buses to get potential victims out?

Blaming the authorities for evacuating a handful of foreigners first is simply ridiculous.

The Mayor of New Orleans has a responsibility to all within his city, not just the residents. Foreign tourists are, as someone said already here, easily evacuated. They just need to get to the nearest aiport and they're one step from home. Residents with no homes to get to need facilities in place to send them to.

I'm the first person to criticize the handling of the evacuation (or lack thereof), but this tiny incident in the middle of the whole mess is really insignificant and not unwarranted.
