Everyone here is missing the point here. N korea does not have one nuke. No one has one nuke one nuke is pointless. If they ever had one nuke it was back in 2002 when the whole N korea nuclear controversy first started.
They've had a good three years of free reign while Bushco sat around with with their collectives thumbs up where the sun dont shine obsessing over Saddam and his nonexistant WMD threat. Do you really think North korea's been twiddling their thumbs the whole time we've been having our little escapade in the desert? The issue here isnt whether or not NK has any nukes it's whether or not their balistic missile tech has advanced to the point where it can hit the US.
Another thing N Koreas ability to hit the US is irrelevant. All this talk about patriot missiles and Aegis and the much vaunted ballistic missile shield amount to jack in the real world. Why? because North Korea has several hostages within easy striking distance. A balistic missile launched from north Korea would arrive in America in thirty minutes. Japan is right across the sea and the capital of South Korea is so close you can practically hit it with a rock how much warning time do you think we'll have to react at a range like that. .
Heck they dont even need nukes to smash the heck out of South Korea. They have hundreds of artillery pieces aimed right for the heart of South Korea and this isnt even news its been the status quo for the past few decades. Heck did anyone ever stop to think maybe Kim Jong Il might have commisioned some short ranged artillery based nukes? Good luck shooting those down. If something does go down you can kiss Seoul and Tokyo goodbye.
If North Korea was as much as a house of cards as you jingos make it out to be why havent we moved against it already? Why are we even bothering with diplomacy which we can all agree isnt this administration's strong suit?
