UFO evidence from the time of high strangeness in the late 40s and 50s may have been captured by the camera at the Palomar observatory in Southern California during their "sky survey" in the 50s , thousands of photographic plates from the observatory have been kept in storage for safe keeping and were recently digitized to conserve their data when researchers noticed transient objects on the plates from 1952 , 3 bright star like objects very close together were seen on the first plate but were gone by the time the second photographic plate was taken 1hour later , the plates show no signs of damage and the shortness of the appearance would seem to rule out known astronomical phenomena such as Nava , comets or asteroids , satellites are ruled out as Sputnik 1 wasn't launched until 1957.

It's worth noting the plates were taken in July 1952 , the month and year of the Washington, D.C., UFO incident.

This 15 minute video from John Michael Godier explains the mystery in greater detail.

As yet there is no explanation for the objects , nor for the 9 transients also captured by the Palomar observatory Sky Survey in 1950.

Transients marked in red on the left but absent in the image taken 6 days later.

Whatever the explanation is, this is certainly an intriguing mystery, as the researchers noted:

We believe the mystery of the simultaneous transients is a detective story worth of the attention of the astronomical community.

Bottom line: Astronomers in Sweden are trying to solve the mystery of the nine weird transients that were seen in a photographic plate taken at the Palomar Observatory in 1950. They were never seen before, and have not been seen again since.

Not sayin it's Aliens , but it's probably Aliens.

Good thread Gortex.

1952 was also the time of the 3 UFO's at Little Rissington.

I've really been enjoying that channel since I discovered it earlier this summer.

Also recently learned, he has a second channel, called Event Horizon.

Thanks for the post.

A "good thread?" Hardly. Don't be suckered into believe that astronomy has been entirely ignorant of mysterious events in our local skies. This recent business is evidently part of the operation to keep the field of astronomy safe from being paired with government in the almost eighty years of UFO denial and coverup.

The event horizon channel is great.
This palomar thing is a real mystery-I was just watching the angry astronaut on the subject-he says there were some pretty big and famous UFO encounters over Washington DC-including fighter jet chases and radar obeservations a day after the palomar transient images were taken.
Quite a spooky link.

Funny the angry astronaut never used to cover the UFO topic-he started reluctantly and now hes been dragged right into it and is hooked!

"Funny the angry astronaut never used to cover the UFO topic-he started reluctantly and now hes been dragged right into it and is hooked!"

So you accept the deception and fail with follow-through-thinking to understand that all of this changing horses for the elites and gate keepers is a must do activity as they ease the public on to the road of acceptance of the true state of our situation?

Yes, the scientists say it's never aliens until you prove it is, and the conspiracy theorists say the opposite, it's always aliens until you prove it's not, lol.

I read the paper on this briefly, and the scientists say they don't have access to the original plates to examine them microscopically to see if the source could be contamination:

Exploring nine simultaneously occurring transients on April 12th 1950

The best way to exclude the possibility of contamination causing the simultaneous transients is by examining the original photographic plates with a microscope. Unfortunately, we have no access to the original POSS-I plates.
I wish they said WHY they don't have access to the original POSS-I plates. Do the plates still exist? If so, are they being held by some meanie who won't allow other scientists to examine them?

The paper mentions that other astronomy mysteries have been solved by local events. Did you folks hear about the astronomy mystery that was eventually tracked down to astronomers who smoked? It's mentioned in the paper, along with other historical cases of local causes for anomalies:

A human source may be to blame. Small local events in an observatory have been known give rise to anomalous detections, e.g. the potassium flare stars[16] that were spectra contaminated by French matches, the discovery of unusual radio bursts, that were caused by microwave ovens[17]. In a recent search for laser signals from Proxima Centauri, it was carefully demonstrated how extraordinary spectral signals reminiscent of lasers can be produced by the presence of a calibration lamp during the observations[18]. Humidity can also leave traces in a photographic plate.

I think when nine things all show up at the same time, some kind of local cause has to be a prime candidate, so they really should have examined the plates with a microscope if possible. I wish they had explained more about why they don't have access to the plates. Does anybody know if the original plates still exist?

The mystery deepens, interesting observation
I regularly follow John Michael Godier from time to time , his insightful research always gives good explanation

Hopefully they compare more of those plates and tell us if there're more of these observations?

Thanks for posting this

That's not what they say in the page you linked to.

The same 10 x 10 arcmin field shown in POSS-1 and POSS-2 red bands. In the POSS-1 image we see a number of objects that cannot be subsequently found, marked with green circles. Purple circles are artifacts during the scanning process.

Do we know the exposure time of those photos?

If it was relatively long then the objects weren't moving fast.

Edited to add that, apparently, the exposure time was 50 minutes.

Here’s a related article from a different website that just popped up…..the references at the end of the article are interesting as well….

Source: THE VANISHING STAR ENIGMA AND THE 1952 WASHINGTON D.C. UFO WAVE

As we look up at the starry sky, countless celestial bodies silently peer down upon us. Most of these have been there for billions of years as stellar processes slowly unfold, starting from their birth until their final demise. Light from other celestial objects, though long vanished, has only recently reached us. In other instances, swift changes in the sky occur at timescales as short as seconds or minutes, like when a dwarf star momentarily flares up or when a human satellite crosses the field of view.

My team has been searching for objects that may have vanished. As an unexpected result of our searches, we found cases where multiple star-like objects (transients) appeared and vanished in a small image within an hour, and even more peculiarly, two of our brightest cases happened in July 1952, coinciding in time with the 1952 Washington D.C. UFO flyovers. But what have we actually found, and how do these two events potentially link to one another?

Sidebar: Hmmm ….from the caption…..three transients……..there goes that magical number of 3’s again.

Now ya see um, now ya don’t.
