On Friday as the World was watching the drama in Russia unfold Perseverance Rover was trundling around on Mars taking pictures until unexpectedly in the distance was spotted a Martian Donut , a rare dish indeed.

Perseverance Rover's picture.

Closer look.

twitter.com...
The chaps over at SETI think it could be the remains of a Meteor which being as Perseverance is a mobile science lab would be a cool find and target for exploration ... sorry Homer.

Our country spends way too much on this. We have people starving in this country and children sick in hospitals. There is no reason why we should be spending millions on space when humans are suffering here

What is your ancestral heritage? How did you come to live where you are?

Exploration is necessary for our future as a species.

That would make a fine necklace pendant, or a cool clunky bangle bracelet, depending on the size of the thing.

It's celestial no doubt!

How much did we spend on NASA in the last ten years,
vs how much have we spent funding wars across the world in the last ten years?

Space exploration is a drop in the bucket, and it actually gives us something back.

Wouldn’t there be a crater of it was a meteorite?

LOL — I’m not awake yet. My brain actually caught that, but didn’t activate. It’s still twirling it around somewhere in the back basement.

Why hide any findings then? Theirs always secrecy and obscurity with NASA hence the nick name Never A Straight Answer

Hardly seems different than the military at all. Although if we didn’t fund NASA I don’t think we’d suddenly be fending off the Russians or the Chinese or the cartels on our own.

US Space program budget = $22.6 billion
US military Black budget = $52.6 billion

Which is the bigger waste of money ?

Our country spends not enough on this. Something like a penny of every tax dollar goes to fund NASA. And we get so much back from that.

Nah we don't spend millions we spend billions, but you need to look at all we have because of space technology.

Not to mention if we can tap into H3on the moon, it will be financially worth it

If managed correctly, why couldn’t there be enough for both?

If we are to expand we must explore. If we are to survive we must take care.

Space exploration is extremely important because life will inevitably end here on Earth. Colonizing space needs to be a top priority for the long term survival of our species. Now is NASA necessarily doing a good job at that is a great question, as is are they sharing everything they know with the rest of us? I think they cover stuff up.

Why are we spending billions of dollars on defense when no one has invaded the United States since the Spanish-American War and like you said, we have people suffering in poverty and homelessness?

Our defense budget should be 10% of what it is right now. That should be enough to maintain a defensive military.
