Serbia placed combat-ready troops along its border with Kosovo as tensions soar and long-simmering ethnic divisions resurface.

Serbia's Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic said Monday he "ordered the full combat readiness" of the troops on the border after he was instructed to do so by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

The order was issued to ensure that "all measures be taken to protect the Serbian people in Kosovo."

What with Russia / Ukraine, China, Covid, &tc nobody seems to be paying much attention to this.

Apparently Serbs are living in Kosovo and Serbia is accusing Kosovo of oppressing them.
Kosovo is accusing Russia of stirring things up.

"It is precisely Serbia, influenced by Russia, that has raised a state of military readiness and that is ordering the erection of new barricades, in order to justify and protect the criminal groups that terrorize... citizens of Serb ethnicity living in Kosovo," Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla said, according to Reuters.

Thank God for outlets like Reuters that still report global events.

the above article is a few days old. update:

www.reuters.com...

Serbs started dismantling barricades in northern Kosovo on Thursday, hours after Kosovo reopened its main border crossing with Serbia, easing a surge in tensions that has alarmed world powers.

Serbia also ended a three-day-old state of alert for its troops, Tanjug news agency reported, as the sides showed signs of bowing to pressure from the European Union and the United States to step back from a mounting confrontation.

de-escalation. whew.
I have a feeling this isn't over though.

Let's hope it is over.

Apparently, a lot of this was fired up by Kosovo introducing its own number plates to reinforce it's sovereign status. Which Russia and Serbia doesn't recognize.

But the usual suspects will be along soon to blame it all on NATO, etc.

bowing to pressure from the European Union and the United States

So.....the US gets to decide who gets to kill and who gets to be killed? Gawd, this just seems so hypocritical.

The pressure from the EU and the US was to de-escalate this conflict.

What's your problem with that and how are they deciding "who gets to be killed"?

Is that parody?
You can't honestly tell me you just wrote that with a straight face...

When has the EU and US EVER been in the business of de-escalation?

Can you give me one example of a positive outcome from American and European interventionism in a foreign country?
Just one...

Almost every conflict in the last 60 years had some assistance from the US and/or the EU. War is profitable and now both political parties in America bow to the MIC.

No, it isn't parody.

Here is where there is an example of being in the business of de-escalation, which seems to have worked.

But you carry on with your hand wringing hatred of the West:

At which border?

It seems that borders are going to be the trend for 2023.

Maybe a perfect trifecta on 3 fronts for the new and improved WWIII?

Right? Now borders are cool and need to be respected.

The Biden administration has gone above and beyond to make sure NO country get's involved with de-escalating the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

My problem is I have a really hard time turning a blind eye to hypocrisy and lack the biased tunnel vision others embrace.

Because the Serbs have a right to defend their minorities in Kosovo from Albanian nationalists who are trying to expel all of the Serbs and other minorities

How about you stop playing moderator? My post was on topic. The topic of the US interference in war, once again. Playing the world police and pressuring all nations to do our bidding.

There's a long, long history of the US playing supreme police force on the world stage, and besides always sending our country into a downward economic spiral it never turns out well.

sides showed signs of bowing to pressure from the European Union and the United States to step back from a mounting confrontation.

I'm still on topic, but your ranting at me isn't.

The US and EU was to de-escalate this conflict in the Balkans? as they seek to destroy Serbia's sovereignty?

While arent seeking any real deescalation in Ukraine.
