Can someone explain how this is a dark spot on ATS?

This person came here.. so do thousands everyday and if you have not noticed.. The come everyday.. long before any of this happened.

ATS had nothing to do with this very ill person.. other than the fact that this was one among many places this person spent time online.
...

Well said Gazz, I could not agree more. Why are people so concerned? It's not like 'they' are going to line us up single file for questioning. Maybe its the insatiable desire to be on TV/radio or part of the normal media circus the very same thing we usually come here to mock and question. Perhaps everyone wants their 15 minutes of pseudo fame. Please people restore some sanity and let's move ahead with what this site has to offer.

I don't think this is bad.

ATS was correctly referred to as a conspiracy, UFO, etc. site. It would have been bad if they got their facts mixed up and just lumped us in with the neo-nazis sites Weise had also visited.

Anyway, as someone else suggested, not very many people even watch Oblermann, he is on opposite the O'Reilly Factor on FOX.

The nature of "deny ignorance" seems to say we should not help feed a media frenzy over a tragic event like this.

I agree...

I have not made it all the way through this thread yet, but if ATS was mine, I'd remove the post and have them readily available for the Law Enforcement Officials upon request.

I also don't feel that ATS will get a bad name becuase of this... it will blow over like everything else...

Youve all heard the saying "There is no such thing as bad publicity" People interested in UFO etc, will know where to go more now, ad the people who dont belive in it will check it out , see what the site is, and if they like saty if not go.

All his threads shoul be kept of the feds to check out, secondly, on the main site, the owner of this site should make a statement about this. Then we shall move on.

Dont Panic people!!!

Fickle public interest in this age of media saturation is bound to result in the ATS connection here becoming an addendum to a footnote in this saga. Just who is going to go arter us anyway???

I think there are enough rational and intelligent minds here who's support (come the worst) will withstand the feeble attempts of neo-journalism to ridicule and defame us.

The hell with them. This is the internet. It is all inclusive and that means ALL from deranged psychopaths to innocent virgins. Is the media going to slander Hotmail too for this guy's profile there. Sureley he uesd Google and looked at porn once or twice too.

F**K the neo-media, who needs them anyway.

So a few new people "lurk" or join ATS as a result of the publicity albeit it small. What's the harm in that? New members may lend new ideas and/or truths to be discovered or perhaps lend their own experiences.

And for those of you looking at my location, yes I am fm Mpls and NO I didn't not leak information to the paper. I did however read the article and sadly it only targets the negitive aspect of Weise's posts as I would expect the media to do. The also had a blurp about ATS and his posts on our local news as well.

Shift, there is no such thing as bad publicity, i agree. This will all be free publicity for ATS.

Ask anyone in Hollywood.
Anyone notice if visitors have increased due to it?

Uhh, I think that considering the nature of the event, three cheers for ATS getting more publicity and increased membership is probably in bad taste.

That being said, the crux of the matter is Weise came to ATS and the myriad of other sites he frequented in search of answers to his own personal demons and to pass his time, NOT the other way around. Even the Nazi site was visited by him as a result of his mental state, it was not the cause of it.

ATS has nothing to fear, nothing to hide and can hold its collective head high in the face of any feeble attempts at sensationalist, journalistic witchhunts. An innocent man has naught to fear. I say leave the posts where they are. ATS will weather this storm, if one arises, like it has others before it - and will be stronger for it. And if just 10% of the conspiracies discussed on this site are true, then there will be greater tests to come. Now is not the time to give in to fear-based self-censorship.

If shutting this site down can bring one ounce of comfort to any of the family members of the victims, then this website should be happily boxed up and packed away.

I'm not saying this site should be shut down, but let's get our priorities straight here...

Someone has been thinking of the children. They have been thinking about the children for a long time. They stole your children and you never missed them.

This is how lynch mobs used to get started. How on earth is shutting down a website forum that the kid posted on a few times going to comfort the families of the victims?? He probably kept a diary as well. Would the victims' families be comforted if they shut down the company that prints the diaries? Let's get a grip here. ATS is a bunch of code where you can type your thoughts and have others respond to them. It does not push any agenda and has absolutely no responsibility for these events whatsoever. Period.

thats like saying burn avery news paper that has an article about the famillys son.

why should the comunity at ATS take a loss when its no the people here at ATS fault nor the websites fault.

not only does this go against logic it goes against tho whole spirit of the internet.

when I see posts like this it makes me miss the days before AOL made internet access so easy

Using that yardstick, then every website he visited should be closed down, as should the school he attended, every shop he visited, every park, football stadium ... etc.

ATS was not responsible for what he did. In fact I doubt even the nazi sites had anything to do with it, foul that they are. From what I have learned over the lastfew days, I believe that he needed someone to talk to - a counsellor or somesuch person. Someone in the same room or on the other end of a phone who knew him and knew how to help.

There are thousands of people on ATS. Just walk through the centre of a city and you'll see the same amount of people. We can't know everyone and we can't know who is capable of such acts unless we know them personally and they open up to us.

Shutting down ATS would not help the families one bit. The only thing that could do that is to bring their loved ones back.

I mean com'n, I'm the last person who thought I would like the Backstreet Boys or heck "this intrest". Plus, hey I'm a "college dropout". Bad math classes and UNESCO bad.(joking).

I think the mods and stuff should be paying alot more attention for the $23 an hour they get to monitor for that publicity, b/c on the when a screenshot like that travels super fast on the web and by mouth and alot of ppl will think we're nuts and all wanna kill ppl and stuff.

When truth is we don't care unless they violate anything Thomas Paine wrote about, which reminds me(note: I'm against parisan politics in a democratic republic), didn't Bush already do that?

Plus, Freethinker had a lot of interest and cool Sci-fi ideas on the site b4 the site got big in 2000/2001. Nights like these I actually wish Freemason didn't fight with everybody. He was cool when he was drunk or happy. I miss the days of being a "viewer" and that was in what '97/'98-I think. Man, ppl we should at least have Simon and the mods do something.

I don't get it, I'm into American Pop-culture, I watch TV, but yet ironically, I think when they tried the BS down my throat in Govt./History classes through my teachers, plus the ritalin they used b4, with all those a-holes in D.C. and in OH turning a blind eye. Did they not think, I would say "hey "BSB2005", why not study, find a way to have these ppl shoot themsleves in the foot, and not practice self-defence when I'm older and ready to physchical workout." I was thinking and avowing that when I was 10. So I see him as a victim of the world goverments and the UN/US(Bearu of Indian Affiars) as well as the self absorbnessof his dreams(which you have at that age) of the pro-nazi and anti-globalization propaganda he read so often.

Note: Tonight, I cannot spell the word "When".

Let me label this as your right consciousness.

And this as your left.

They are obviously doing battle with each other. Since, as you have been a member for at least a few months, you find some value in invoking the www for ATS, or you would not be here to even read this thread.

Supposing then that you just clicked on the favourite you happened to save per chance you should decide to visit on occassion and in so doing just tripped across this particular thread, then it is safe to say that you believe all sites as visited by Weise should be boxed up and packed away also. After all why would his family need to know that he likely accessed; google; yahoo; msn; and umpteen news sites? They must after all have contributed to his delinquency.

If you feel so strongly about ATS, the option does exist to delete same from favourites.

What exactly are the priorities?
