What makes you say that? You can't have a 'main' earthquake and aftershock in the same sentence.

Supposedly, with an 8.2 quake, there would be an expected aftershock of 7.2. One magnitude less than the original quake. I forgot all about that until I saw Anneke’s post.

I sure miss the old Quake days! I learned so much from the ‘regulars’ & those endless posts! But I’ve forgotten a lot since then too.

Quake off of the southern coast of the Big Island!
Originally 6.1, upgraded to a 6.2 now. 6 aftershocks so far in 35 minutes. People are reporting that the first aftershock felt stronger than the main quake. Felt all the way to Oahu! No tsunami warning.

Why are they all 10KM in depth? Isn't that strange?
