I am not talking about the Federal Reserve or even Federal Express.....actually, I am not talking about anyone "Federal"

Lets talk about people who actually work hard for a living.
First responders get a free pass so no bother going there....respect to all of you.

I am talking about the non-essentials who are actually essential.
I haven't stopped working but it is not my job I want to talk about....it is the people i keep bumping into while I have to deal with my stuff.

Its the bike messengers....those dirty, can't stop eating, farting in elevators, guys and gals.
I know many in my city and am surprised that in an empty city, we still keep bumping into each other block after block.

Nobody gives these guys their dues, they are scraping by, being what people need in this (or any) country...hard workers who are a part of the backbone, and the definition of hard work.

I have known guys who paid their way through school doing this job and they deserve some kudos....even though they don't matter and are still dropping packages, they are actually working hard when most aren't.

If there is anyone who works hard but gets no appreciation, feel free to post it here.

What are bike messengers? Don t have them here in Australia....surely they've been replaced by technology? Power to them for still existing.

I'm gonna shout out IT guys, specifically the lower level service desk techs. Have had first hand experience recently as I work an IT managed services provider though usually in the sales and marketing arena.

Been helping the service desk guys deal with a 30%+ increase in requests...You oughta see the crap circus those dudes put up with to keep everyone connected and working!

We do have them in Australia, maybe not so much for document or package delivery, but we have thousands for food and other deliveries; Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Door Dash, AirTasker, a few others as well.

A few bucks for a 10 minute ride across a hilly city, to deliver some overweight person a tub of Burnt Caramel Messina Ice Cream?... they ARE doing it tough!

In British Columbia, Canada where I live most have still been going full bore. So I’d like to shout out all the construction / tradespeople Such as myself I still see working. Sun, Rain, Sleet or Snow we’ve kept going.

After all someone still needs to pay taxes for all those CoNViD PlanDemic loans!! 🤦‍♂️

I read an interesting study in Australia that found that those that still have a job or are still working, are working on average three hours a day more than before the pandemic.

In a sense half of us are all working harder than ever to support all of us who have had their jobs swiped from under them.

ETA: Or I should say halves only of the whole of the middle class. Really shows what effort actually keeps the world running.

The thing that kills me with this whole debacle, is that there was a very simple solution, that would have avoided all of the woes we are currently facing globally, but we are incapable of accepting because of "isms".

The solution was quite simple, but for many, seemingly "socialist" in nature, so impossible to implement.

The solution was to give every "working" person globally a living wage, even if only for a few months, in return for the WORK that we have all had to do (unpaid I might add) of saving the world.

No one has paid me for my 80 hour weeks since March, but our Governments keep congratulating us on all the work we have done in combating this thing... then tag on that us, our children and possibly our children's children will be paying back the debt associated to this for decades...

UM... WHO ARE WE PAYING WHAT BACK TO?

Paying everyone for the effort of staying home, not only would have made us all feel valued, but also would have allowed us all to invest in our own situations (buy food, home offices, education, internet services, etc)... which would have continued to stimulate the economy, so that Gov's wouldn't be worried about tax revenue now.

The rich would have added to their stacks, the working would have shared it with those more needy, and the not working would have spent it!

Hard work keeps the world running.

When someone quits, someone else wins.

This thread is just a shout out to the people who get no kudos, but have to keep running in a world running crazy.

Also, I don't want to talk about taxes....my country is going to pay for all of this crap for years to come.

Sorry... wasn't trying to derail... guess I was trying to shout out to the fact that our Gov's have us all working harder currently, even those without a job!

The delivery riders are the bomb though, I always tip, especially on a rainy night!

My plumber works 2 days a week, electricians are all in so I can get them anytime.
Construction never stopped, bike messengers didn't stop either. (thumbs up boys)

Wall street closed for a bit, yet none of us ever did?
Did I mention none of us are federal other than our tax paying asses??

If we want to talk economy...look no further than local.....federal needs to go away because they sold us all out no matter what country you come from.

Thumbs up to the WORKING man (or woman)

You're talking about guys like the crew of three dudes they sent to our house a few years ago to waterproof our basement. Those guys hand dug a trench around the foundation in a day! You ask me ... that's working hard. I'll bet they're still working right now.

I know we're not essential but when you turn on that 60in flatscreen and see a face...think of the 100+ behind the scenes that helped make that image. And that's not even counting the writers, and above the line geeks. I'm at work now! And will be back on location the 15th in the desert.

We are both Musicians, even in the great depression, guys like us will be ok.

I can sit my ass on a street corner and busk and get $60 an hour if I play my ass off.....or working as we call it. (just keeping on topic with the thread)

Didn't everything get shut down where you are?

Thumbs up to them, they deserve every penny they make.

I did make reference to Federal stuff, but people like that work harder than any politician will ever understand or ever do themselves.
Thumbs up to the foundation digger dudes!!

If my "steps", according to my phone are any indication, I'm working literally twice as hard - but for the same money. I sell cars, high volume (29 in April.) Every deal takes more work in these conditions.

My porters and assistants, same hourly wage, but working harder as well. Cheers to all of them. Most of all, to those at home keeping more heavily occupied homes running while also teaching multiple grades at the same time.

I need a 2 week vacation - my wife at home needs one more than me. I think she'd be happy with going back to work.

I loved my buskin days. I backed up a blues man on upright for the big paydays. Solo, 6stg. did ok if I could get a good corner, my favorite was bars for drinks and tips.

Yes, most everything was shut down, But a lot of businesses just ignored the quarantine, like the studios, but all location shooting was closed.

I have zero respect for first responders. These are the same people who have been living high on the hog for decades while people died on the streets because greedy insurance companies and "first responders" locked them out of preventative healthcare. Oh they work hard enough but they also work in an industry that exploits the vulnerable (as long as it can milk them out of a huge chunk of their income) and turns a blind eye to the poor.

So yeah. This is probably the first time most of the people who work in medicine ever had to risk anything of substance since they landed their job. Now their job is actually risky and just maybe they get a little taste of what it's like to be at the mercy of something they can't get away from.

And believe me. Like I said. I know these people work hard even in normal times. Working hard does not really change the nature of what the healthcare industry actually is and what it does to people and what it does to society as a whole. This industry is a parasite.
