Ice age Farmer has got a couple of leaked documents which suggest governments in China and America are becoming aware that shortages will be showing up during April and May. I noticed no flour and restrictions on Rice at my Supermarket. Apparently Vietnam the forth largest rice producer is halting exports. Makes for some sobering conclusions, along with the need to get growing.

And... get a 25 bag of rice at a Chinese grocery store. I have had buddies do this.

We don't have a food shortage. Farmers are throwing food away from several reports. Go buy some dry beans, canned goods, rice and frozen vegetables. If it gets really bad dig up some worms, grab a rod and head to the local river or start trapping or shooting squirrels. Getting tired of this defeatism mentality. Nobody is starving to death in the US. In many regards the obesity problem in the US is a bigger problem than the virus. The virus also targets fat bodies.

We're really getting all this doom stuff pushed onto us aren't we?

Geez what's going to be next?

Also, it's kind of offputting how I'll see a thread about something and then a week or two later people make more threads about it, because the media starts pumping it out.

I'm going to start making threads about threads that people make.

It is not about production. It is about supply chain. Crops are rotting in the field because there is nobody to harvest and process them. Milk is being dumped down the drain. Ranchers are unable to sell their cattle because the slaughterhouses don't have the manpower to process.

People's issues are much more diverse than a post like this makes them seem. Yes. Many people are overweight at a basic level but the American way of life is also to work yourself to death so most people have no time to do anything but work all week long, such that they're exhausted by the weekend and don't want to do anything but rest and recreation.

The typical work day (while exhausting) tends to not be very exercise oriented so people are inclined to eat convenient food that tastes good. Hey! Imagine that! People who live in slavery might just turn to junk food as a coping mechanism for their misery).

Yeah. People should live in abject misery and eat like rabbits to preserve their walking corpses long enough to squeeze a few more years of pure profit and labor out of them.

The American ruling class is squealing and writhing in pain because for the first time in the lives of the people who own and run it, they get the feeling that it might end soon.

But let's go back to blaming the plebs for being fat pigs and latching onto any form of comfort and pleasure they can get their paws on.

No shortages here, except paper products.

Seems that the panic buying is fading and stores are catching up. Pretty much as I as expected to happen. I still have no intention of going to Costco in the near future.

Interesting though, the price of fresh fish has dropped dramatically in the supermarkets because of restaurants being closed. The supply is better than ever. Good for consumers, not so good for the fishermen.

"Ice Age Farmer." Good source dude.

People have been getting addicted to extreme emotions and reactions for years now. It was a more general thing, but it was absolutely directed by certain forces as well.

Now, it seems many are outright addicted to fear & doom porn specifically. Again though, directed by those same forces.

Weve got what we need to handle these things, even if its exactly "as reported." Instead of just posting and reposting about how bad everything is, I think itd be better to talk about how to actually handle it. Ideally, in a way that not only tackles short term problems but also sets us up for long term success. Its probably also prudent to take note of different locales and the issues specific to them.

Most dont seem to interested in that though, instead waiting for corporate jebus to swoop in and "save" us all. Its disappointing to see that even some who are talking about specific plans and actions are almost exclusively in the context of corporate control.

Ive been lecturing friends for years on being prepared.

They used to take my words with a grain of salt, but for the last 2 months, things have changed. They are not only listening, they are beginning to take action.

Ill probably be ok for at least 2 years, plus I have raised bed gardens teaming with food plants. Potatoes, chard, onions, herbs, cabbage, lettuce, brussels, cauliflower, peppers, peas, etc

We are in for a rough ride. Buckle up

Just reporting on my current situation. Living on on island in the middle of the Pacific, our situation is always precarious.

And no, I'm not going to take a youtube video from "Ice Age Farmer" about "leaked documents" seriously.

Where you live you could live out of your garden, but a bit of self preparedness could save a lot of problems. Their are going to be bankruptcies, when that happens , to say goods delivery companies, they cant get fuel, so they stop. The drivers wont turn up for free. The money that the government is supposed to be handing out will be to little to late. It will lead to inflated prices. The Dominoes are falling fast.
