Wow, wish I lived in Belgium. I’d be shocked if the US did these kind of things for their people.

I got laid off starting from today, as i am sure a lot others too by now . I am just feeling uncertainty, it`s not fun to get laid off and allready were wondering how i can adjust to this ...well most likely i will survive ,so it`s probably only my own head that is drawing unnecessary doom picture.

I seen more awful times than this, so i guess it is advantage for me now, as i can mirror this current mess to my past situations...depression ,chronic fatigue etc....nevertheless i cant say enjoying this current situation, and also worrying about my mom with this WuFlu .

Didn't potus say he was going to send out checks? Thought I read something about that?

About the situation over here, all our gov is asking is that people respect the lockdown ans stay inside as much as possible, but the ungrateful bunch can't even do that.... I think most don't realize what they are getting compared to other parts of the world....

Yes, $1,000. My nut is 8k a month. So that thousand won’t do diddly squat.

Unemployment information for Missouri and Kansas.

If you've lost your job due to this all the way or even just in part, you can file for some unemployment compensation in these two states.

Here in Brazil we have government insurance for the unemployed and sick (or in pandemics cases), but only for the formally employed (or someone who was formally employed before getting fired). The problem is: we have 44 million people living on informality (through jobs like uber and etc), and they have no insurance at all. Quarantine is only a few days away, if these people don't work they don't get paid, they don't get enough money to save, so if they don't work they starve. Ugly situation here too.

Sorry for you, man. You gonna get through it.

So we are really gonna do this huh? Saving lives by destroying livelihoods? This won't end well.

A job opportunity has been put on hold for me....

Only problem is, I have to go back to Canada in a few weeks.

I'm not even sure I'll be able to stay for those 2 weeks, or if ill be allowed to return, I have to check with USCIS updates on the situation.

The reality is I'll probably miss out on this amazing opportunity and end up working a minimum salary job back home.

I mean maybe not, maybe in a few weeks they'll have me sign the contract and I'll come back and all will work out for me.

But it's definitely put everything to a halt and put me through a lot of stress and uncertainty.

What was your business, if you don't mind me asking?

I tried to keep this private for the longest time. But I guess it really doesn’t matter anymore.

I own / owned a wine tour biz. Lots of bachelorette parties. No bachelorette parties when everyone is postponing / canceling their weddings.

It sucks, but the good news is, when this blows over - and it will, and sooner than most think - your business will rebound dramatically - as long as you maintain your contact lists and everything, and start dialing for dollars once this thing is history.

Best to you and yours!

This whole virus thing, probably not the right forum to post this,, but it just seems so surreal. I can’t get my head around it. How did this happen, why has it happened? And there aren’t any clear answers atm. Atm we are in the thick of battle and we as seeing casualties by the minute, all sorts. One being small business’ no longer existing, people being made redundant, people dying.
It’s like why do we agree (are brainwashed) into living each day the way we do. We have to live within the system, but the system has so many am weaknesses now being exposed.
Why can’t we not pause everything then? Not penalise anyone financially? What is money anyway? It is and does cause more suffering than good. If i were a Multi billionaire I would be helping anyone i would right now.
Human life is precious, our existence can be an amazing experience. We have to band together, as beings to get through this,

What it’s taught me is, no matter how great things can be going, anything and everything can be taken away from you in any moment....

What’s the point in building everything back up, if it can be taken away so swiftly?

I work in mid-level management for Goodwill Industries in NYS. They made the decision to close all stores two days ago. I will give them credit where credit is due though. They had a conference call that included all leadership positions in all stores. They were very transparent on what steps they were taking and how that would affect both US as workers and THEM. They spoke very bluntly, but definitely not down to us.

They said that they looked at what reserves they had, and how best to take care of US...THE WORKERS...while at the same time being able to survive this themselves so that we ALL had jobs to come back to when this is over. They decided to pay everyone...right down to the cleaning crews....for TWO FULL WEEKS. That's right...full pay...based on your previous work schedules. After exhausting those two weeks...if they weren't back open for business as usual...they'd allow us to use all accrued PTO and then...they'd use negative PTO for two more weeks. That means they'll give us workers a draw on future accrued time off.

I feel that as a not-for-profit...and one of the largest of those in the world...they went above and beyond to do what they could having such little information on an ever-changing set of circumstances. While most companies are just laying people off...Goodwill decided to think of it's employees before cash reserves. Unprecedented!

For me and many co-workers I've spoken to, it makes us love who we work for even more.

I have volunteered one free day a week to answering phone calls for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline for about 6 months now. (Goodwill in my area is a major part of that government service and it's considered an essential service so will remain staffed). During a normal 3 hour shift, I may field two or three such calls. Yesterday, I took 12 of them in the span of about 10 hours. People are really suffering out there and the fear and uncertainty is driving many to the brink.
So while people like myself that are certainly losing money and thinking about paying my car payment, rent, etc...there are people out there that are losing far far more and are resorting to drastic measures. I feel very bad for those that have lost so much. Please stay safe out there and try to cope the best that you can!

That’s great your company is treating its employees so well!

God, I didn’t even think about an uptick in suicides from this.

Good job volunteering your time for this.

This was all planned by the central banking system to take down America to third world status and Nationalize industry. The virus and everything.

We don't live in America anymore.

As of a couple days ago Trump Nationalized industry.

We are now a National Socialist country owned by the Private Central Banking system.

Welcome to the New World Order.

Everything will be blamed on the virus.
