www.google.com...

Another 368 people died in the last 24 hours in Italy

And before anyone starts quoting age demographics...

America has 67,000,000 people over the age of 60.

Italy has 60,000,000 people of any age...

I think they had around that number a few days back as well..very sobering #s

I am tired of the "age" thing being used to minimise this as well..who the hell here does not have parents, or older relatives, friends.

The deaths lag behind as it usually takes weeks to die from the onset of symptoms. If you look at case closures, it is not pretty.

Italy:

Total Recovered: 2,335

Total Dead: 1,809

Hopefully this is the peak we’ve been looking for and there will be a decline in new cases .

Just like China and South Korea .

Hopefully so. Even South Korea with their expanded testing to catch positives has some pretty bad numbers of closed cases.

www.worldometers.info...

South Korea:

Recovered: 834

Dead: 76

That is still a 9.11 % rate on closed cases. Of course it is early and it takes weeks for the numbers to catch up once it stops spreading. My question is how long does it take to be considered "Recovered". Seems it is taking a long time to be considered recovered doesn't it?

And we still have people saying "It's the flu", "soon it'll be gone", "You fearmonger".

Do you wish otherwise?

There is nothing wrong with hope.

Maybe it’s bad in Italy. It certainly isn’t in the states.

My state has 12 people infected (no fatalities) out of 7.2 million.

Here’s the World meter link to the South Korea page. They’re doing significantly better. Their new cases peaked between February 27 and March 7 . They went from 851 new cases daily on March 4th to 107 on March 15 .

The RO for Covid 19 is somewhere between 1.5% and 3.5% . Which in my opinion means that because of the swift climb during the first three weeks . Even at a 1.5% or 2.0% RO it should’ve kept climbing and doubling until there was no stopping it .

This isn’t from the source. I used it yesterday and it’s an accurate representation that can be verified at the current source .

Can you return toilet paper?

They had 3500 new cases yesterday alone...

Far from the peak...

Yes. South Korea is an example of exactly what everyone should be doing.

Mass testing.
Masks on everyone.
Social isolation.

Everything we aren't.

For over 90% of people affected.

It is just the flu .

You can verify that at the link infolurker left . I think it’s the second or third diagram down .

So we'll have 20,000,000 hospitalized Americans.

These numbers are depressing, but there may have been another contributing factor that played a role in these deaths.

Italy’s current national health service, known as Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), provides free universal care to patients yet remains under-funded. Investments in public healthcare make up only 6.8% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP)

“The continuous cuts—to care and to research—are obviously a problem right now,” Casani says. “We were not prepared. We do not have enough doctors for the people. We do not have an organized plan for pandemics.”

time.com...

Could it be true that Italy cut off treatment to the elderly due to a lack of medical supplies and staffing? I bet most of these deaths are older patients.

Italian doctors say they have been forced to ration services for older, sicker patients in order to prioritize younger patients who are more likely to be saved from the virus outbreak

Dude I like you.

But you’re so far invested into the other end of this.

I don’t think debate would be productive for either of us .

No offense

Cheers

Well, for people with the *actual* flu, for 99.9% of them, its "just a flu" - the rest die.

Thankfully, by "over 90%", you mean "around 97.5%", so its only 25x more deadly than influenza, not 100x, as it would be at 90%

Also, thankfully, it isn't as widespread as influenza. If the same numbers were infected, there woukd be 25x more fatalities than with influenza - assuming hospitals could keep up.

Perhaps that 25x Case Fatality Rate has something to do with why we're trying to hard to contain it. Either that, or the governments of the world just want millions/billions to go hungry/homeless in the economic aftermath.

Not true.

20% of the people infected will need advanced care.

That means 80% of the people that get it should end up OK, if there is no reinfection.

What's your point, if you think America's medical system won't be overwhelmed like Italy's because it's not a socialised system I've got news for you.

Exactly, amazing that people use that coubtrybas an example yet fail to recognize the proactive measures taken, unreal.

These are among the prophecies we are apparently about to witness.
Everything is changing right before our eyes.

And when the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 Then I looked and saw a pale horse. Its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed close behind. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword, by famine, by plague, and by the beasts of the earth.

"Men's hearts will fail them for fear of what's coming upon the earth."

People will be unable to sustain their disbelief. The wicked have been
exposed and are currently fulfilling another prophecy.

And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every slave, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

Currently 93% of those infected get “the flu” and 7% require hospitalization . Which by the way is a huge drop from the 20% requiring hospitalization statistic that was panicking the world one month ago .

Am I the only one noticing this downward trends ?

I didn’t do the math but I’ll trust your numbers . I’ve been advocating a solution for that and it hasn’t been very popular . Lol

We should quit wasting resources on the 93% that are only mildly affected . Do we test everybody that gets the flu every year?

Of course not.

Can the world can forgive me for being pragmatic ?

What we need to do is concentrate all our efforts on people 60 years old and over who are most at risk . Cutting down the spread among those age groups will ease the strain on the hospitals .

The position I’m pushing is logic 101 .

I’ve said this on several occasions and the replies always ignore the premise and attack the perimeter .

BTW

People are catching on to the main stream media . I was on Twitter for about a 15 minutes this morning and had two doomers block me . (Skills) lol

But to my surprise I saw quite a few assorted liberals calling bull# on the whole ponzi scheme .

After three and a half years of blind obedience .

That’s progress in my book .

Here’s my thread on resources by the way .
