The United States recently started drawing up plans for an abrupt withdrawal of all US troops from Afghanistan , NBC reported, citing three current and former US defense officials.*

The contingency planning is ongoing, and includes the possibility of President Donald Trump ordering all American troops out of Afghanistan within weeks, wrote the NBC in an article, quoting current and former US defense officials as saying.

BREAKING: American Military draws up plan for abrupt withdrawal of entire troops from Afghanistan

Even though the White House has not issued a directive for this action yet, it may happen soon. IMO this would be a positive development for the US no matter what some may say.

With the global reach of the US military and the advanced tech and weapons at it's disposal. I don't see any reason the US needs troops in any other country at this time.

Here is the story from NBC.

Pentagon draws up plans for quick Afghanistan withdrawal in case Trump blindsides military

The Pentagon recently began drawing up plans for an abrupt withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Afghanistan in case President Donald Trump surprises military leaders by ordering an immediate drawdown as he did in Syria, three current and former defense officials said.

Trump is making it easier all the time to see why they hate him so much.
Drugs, human trafficking and milking the populace for money... He's putting a crimp on their scams.

There is a reason that Afghanistan has long been known as the graveyard of empires.

Afghanistan is a notoriously difficult country to govern. Empire after empire, nation after nation have failed to pacify what is today the modern territory of Afghanistan, giving the region the nickname “Graveyard of Empires, ” even if sometimes those empires won some initial battles and made inroads into the region. If the United States and its allies decide to leave Afghanistan, they would only the latest in a long series of nations to do so. As the British learned in their 1839-1842 war in Afghanistan, it is often easier to do business with a local ruler with popular support than to support a leader backed by foreign powers; the costs of propping up such a leader eventually add up.

The drug companies have heaps of cash, they can pay for their own security. There is a huge demand for the products all around the world. It is a product that comes with a lot of risks, managing it in a more transparent manner will help take it out of the other black market stuff.

I would vote for Trump if Trump starts ending the endless wars and starts bringing the troops home.

I simply do not accept Arabs riding camels in Afghanistan are capable of bringing down three buildings in New York City. If the angry Afghans show up in New York harbor with their own home built aircraft carrier then I will change my mind.

It is clear that is what NBC wants you to think anyway.

His actions and words have everything to do with it.

There are zero plans or mentions from the admin about withdrawing from Afghanistan. Just an action plan if Trump ever decides to make that call. That's it.

If you read the story it is a direct result of him pulling the troop out of Syria. He has talked about bringing the troops home since before he was elected.

I think they see something coming down the pike.

And whose to say Trump didn't actually order this himself?

Either way... yay!

Oh, I'm all for it. Don't get me wrong. But there are just as many sources saying he did and didn't order this. Zero.

You guys realize the reason we are in Afghanistan in the first place is the trillions of dollars of rare earth minerals and metals they sit on? And that the only reason we can even quarrel with China (the other place where to find these rare earth minerals and metals) is because we have Afghanistan as backup if China decides to cut us off?

Not going to happen. Not in a hundred years. Suggesting it is a good way to get a completely unrelated Big Mac heart attack. There's a hand that fed him too. And now he's going to bite it.

Also, the government of Iraq is refusing to allow the US troops from Syria to be re-deployed to Iraq. And according to rumors, the King of Jordan told Nancy Pelosi at that recent meeting that he will not support any further engagement in Syria by the US.

Everyone wants that damn war to end, except the warmongers and their paid mouthpieces.

How much rare Earth elements are the military mining? Don't need the military, there are other economic ways to get the elements from there. Let the companies that need them figure it out. It's not worth people dying over.

There are a mine or two in the US also, we just need time to get them producing. Mining was stopped because China was cheaper. We will be better off in the long run producing what we need here, just like oil.

I'm not sure why this is even newsworthy.

We have thousands of ppl who's sole purpose is to design plans, and responses for any possible contingency.

Before WWII we had contingency plans, in the event we went to war with Great Britain, even though the likelyhood was virtually nonexistent.

We should have plans for any occurance, that are reevaluated on an ongoing basis.
