This is becoming quite a popular meme on the interwebz.
It's a quote by Japanese author, Haruki Murakami. Taken from his novel 1Q84, so it's not necessarily a view held by the author.
I'd like to slightly amend the statement to read, "Everyone, deep in their hearts, has a death wish"; meaning everyone lives their lives as though
it is a finite thing, with a beginning, middle, and end.
Of course we KNOW our lives will end as a simple fact, but I also think we embrace it. In a sense, we want it.
Many people hope for eternal life after death...but would anyone really want to live for ever? Especially here on Earth? I doubt it.
