We actually have a ton of cool technology.
There are things coming that will be game-changers when they are mainstreamed.
It's those changes that are making things hard for people to cope with. The world has changed so rapidly and technology is advancing so quickly that it is difficult for people to keep up.
Now we have Elon Musk entering the fray with brain-computer interfacing systems.
We are there man.
There will be a rift, no doubt. The thing to watch for is the politicization of these new technologies.

Something to look forward to when the grid goes down and the bio chem will waft on the wind. I forgot who said it..."not with a bang, but a whimper"

Musk wants to meld humans with computers as a check on AI. I think the idea has merit.

We might actually be able to catch up because of AI in the interim.
Broad AI isn't a thing yet.
Radical global change doesn't come from the cooler-heads of society, it comes from the fringes, the radicals, the agitators, and they are NEVER the majority.
So what happens when the fringes/radicals/agitators gain a platform, increase, and edge toward a majority or are in positions of power?
We are beyond the point of no return.
Humanity is still good, with good people.

This is why it is so important to preserve free speech. Bad ideas can only be recognized as such when all ideas are permitted their expression.
We are now engaged in political violence as a norm. Globally we are closer and closer to a larger conflagration.
Humanity is not inherently good. It isn't inherently bad either. The capacity for great evil exists in all of us.

If we can't recognize what are and are not bad ideas in a free market of ideas then we are all too stupid to be alive anyway.
