The Chinese dictatorships abuse of minorities, or people who think differently, is well documented. The Chinese are on the brink of creating a robot population, regulated by social scores and controlled by propaganda and nationalism. The only way for the Chinese Communist Party to stay in power is to subvert human rights on a grand scale.

Those who think China is some sort of force for good need their heads examined.

I've been showing these history-rewriting posts to my mother and her husband. She was born in 1941 and he was born in 1934. They both lost family members during the war.
At first they both burst out in laughter, followed by disbelief. Then they got a bit upset and concerned about what they are teaching kids these days.
Needless to say, they'd give anyone a right (pun intended) piece of their mind who would spout such nonsense in their face.

Far right. Far left. They are both the same nationalistic, controlling and authoritarian. The salutes may be different, but the end goal is the same - the erosion of civil liberties and rights, and the imposition of a single ideological mindset.

The Nazis were far right and facist. People get confused by the work "socialism" in the the words "Nazi Party" (National Socialist German Workers' Party).

Far left politics are hardly better than far right. Marxism–Leninism (Soviet) and Maosism and the evolved Communist Party of China, have been built on the eradication of millions of people who got in the way, minorities, people with difference etc... Just like the Nazis in fact.

In the comfy developed world, the terms left and right mean different things.

China wants their citizens to view the state as God, so they've been going after those who are religious... Primarily the Uyghurs, who are Muslim.

This thread stinks of not letting a good crisis go to waste, and trying to hijack the outrage for one's own political causes.

The extreme right and left have talked about taking rights from the other group. Both are guilty, and we've seen statements from our own members on the extreme proposing such idea's.

Right-wing as the Europeans define it which is different than how Americans do.

In Europe the central conflict is between socialism and fascism with both poles being defined by extreme authoritarian mindsets marked by central government control of everything and everyone and actually only different in very small technicalities.

In America, the central conflict is between authoritarianism and libertarianism with one pole being an extreme authoritarian mindset marked by central government control of everything and everyone and the other pole being complete anarchy and no government control of anything and anyone.

It pleases people to conflate European and American right wing as the same thing and to assign similar groups to the same poles or labels as though they are a perfect fit when in fact they aren't and don't always vote the way you would expect.

The communists in Europe came up with the terms to distinguish themselves from the fascists back in the day because otherwise, they're pretty interchangeable, and in fact, ANTIFA has its roots in the militant arm of the communist party of Europe, so they're hardly the heroes everyone thinks they are. Their flags, chants, etc., come straight from their pre-WWII ancestors, so lets all cheer for the commies!

I think that Antifa is using the violent opposition and 'black uniforms' tactics of the Nazi's but I don't see them running any gas chambers. I don't see them following a dictatorial leader. I don't see them going into war against the rest of the world. Nor do I see them as espousing that a particular ethnic group is the cause of national woes.

Antifa are more like Communist revolutionaries, violent left-wing extremists.

... and in regard to my avatar, yes, I think that that 'whistle-blowing', such as that done by journalists like Assange, is morally and ethically 'good'. They should not be prosecuted, they should be applauded. Regardless of the extremes, there is a vast population who reside firmly in the middle. These are the centrists of most nations and are in the majority.

Extremists on both sides see the masses in the middle as being allied to the opposite wing from themselves. That is because of the extremity of their views and nobody is as 'out on a wing' as they are.

But the truth is that the middle holds. They are the true democracy and they will assert themselves, but only if necessary.

I bet they would use them if they had them. They are on that same path
