Not a huge fan of communism but not a huge fan of religion either. They both kinda give me the willies in exactly the same way. Kind of ironic that they're such bitter enemas.

People have to have free will or they'll go to what they can't have in rebellion. Look at the prohibition.

Religion isn't inherently bad, ideology inherently gets weaponized. Almost every ideology has beauty and almost all have douche bags.

And people can't see it because they only see the bad, but I bet the Muslims feel disenfranchised. They're in concentration camps abroad while their homeland is being occupied. Absolutely there are some horrible actors, but if you or I were raised in that ideology, my guess is we'd feel cornered and oppressed.... Further breeding extremism.

Often extremism justifies itself to suppress opposition. While OP makes a point far left could create "re-education" camps, I'd bet they disregard many from the inverse misusing the term treason, or calling for cops and military to kill ANTIFA rioters. Yes, rioting is bad, but we have laws that address it. And as many point out for other things, making something "more" illegal doesn't deter criminals as much as it endangers law abiding citizens.

Society in the first world is severely lacking balance, nuance, and the ability to empathize why someone thinks the way that they do.

I'm probably not unique in this, but I've known survivors who were, I think abused is the right word, by extremists of left and extremists of right persuasions.

That's the important part right there. The collateral damage is usually caught picking up the pieces instead of considering the cause.

The victims then either become saints amongst men who are just thankful to be past it and alive... Or they dedicate their life towards revenge from the other side. And such is the self serving cycle of extremism. Each side needing each other so that they can justify why they're ass clowns.

Trade Unions are an attempt to socialize and democratize workplaces under capitalism. They are leftist organizations by definition.

When the state is a larger "workers union", as under Communism, it incorporates other unions into itself.

That must be why membership in unions are at an all time low... One of the differences is that in nations like the U.S. the state does not own and control all unions, while in socialism and communism they are either all controlled by the state, or they are made to be owned and controlled by the state.
