I'm a big fan of punching back repeatedly.

These types do this to people who are generally not physically imposing or necessarily have the fighting spirit. They are a bunch of cowards and my hope is that these types run into someone who isn't easy to knock down and won't take it.

What's really bad about it these days is that it is endorsed by "mainstream" party leaders and a leftist media.

The media has made it OK to hurt Trump supporters, conservatives, or simply republicans as a general catch-all banner.

I do agree that it is important that we remain in context of our time. No one is being summarily oppressed. But it IS oppressive to live in a society where a political difference of opinion can get you put in the hospital.
