$840M in gold bars prepared for loading onto Russian jet at Venezuelan airport: report

Nicolas Maduro is looting Venezuela's treasury. $840 million of gold was loaded onto a Russian airliner last night. The rat is preparing to flee the nest.

So you fight an imperialist nation by sending your gold to another imperialist nation? That's confusing

Well, they do owe money to Russia, so this might serve as a deposit on retaining "protection".

Also, with all the turmoil, it probably is safer in Russia than in Venezuela.

Just my two cents, not saying I agree this is the right move to keep geopolitical tensions low, I just understand the thinking behind it.

Yeah, right. And socialism works right?

Ask the Japanese, the Germans and the South Koreans just to name a few of the many countries that have adopted a similar system as the U.S. if they like living in a rich and prosperous nation.

All of the richest and most prosperous coumtries in the world have a similar system as the U.S.

I would be for getting rid of that asshole Maduro if it was the will of the Venezuelan people. Why not?

Just saw this - it's about 20% of Venezuela's gold holdings. I hadn't read that it was being loaded on to a Russian Jet though.

Makes sense that Maduro and Russia would be in cahoots. Both are adversaries of the US.

Should it be true Russia wants a base in Venezuela, that should give them the leverage they would need in the relationship with Russia to be able to access their gold being held.

It makes sense.

Don't give a sh*t about socialism mate, I just despise the murderous and corrupt ways of US imperialism. And additionally, the people of Venezuela aren't stupid, they must be aware of what the US has done to so many other countries around the globe, what Venezuelan in their right mind would want a US backed puppet as leader?

In a way, it's a symbiotic relationship.

The prosperous countries have inflated levels of purchasing power because they outsource many good's labor and production to countries where the workforce is borderline slaves.

This in turn keeps the power held for the puppet governments.

So secretly sending your gold to Russia isn't corrupt? They're far better at suppressing and killing their own people then the US could ever do. I think you pick and choose which evil you tolerate

Why fight hypocrisy with hypocrisy? Just call a spade a spade and call BS when needed on both sides. How are they so corrupt and their people so poor when they have all that oil money? It's a joke and that money isn't going to the US or their own people just greedy dbags and now foreign powers

And inversely we could make a list of countries with conditions worse that doesn't have an abundance of threads on here... Mainly because they aren't rich in resources.

Right...ever heard of Great Britain, France, Spain? No, certainly no imperialism there...no, no

How about the Moorish conquests, Mongols, Ottoman?
Oh wait, I forgot the Soviet Union, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands...

How far should I go calling of imperialist actions under any guise? Unique to the USA?

Right, cause in fact the USA is a by product of other Imperial nations and it was through our breaking from those bonds that brought the rest of the world to the freedoms of peoples the world over, to a degree never before.

spread your hate a little more evenly

I agree but I don't see how shipping your gold to Russia has anything to do with the USA. Obviously Russia has incentives to get some oil in exchange for protection and influence. How is this any different from the hate directed at the US? Russia loves toppling and using puppets for personal gain.
