Cool - but make no mistake - this isn't about "openness" and "acceptance" this is about dollars and cents. It's ESPN jumping on the marketing trend of exploiting identity politics and desperately trying to get consumers to buy their "body issue" magazine that next to no one cares about anymore. See: Miss America pageant, every piece of crap movie in theaters right now, etc., etc.

I don't know about you, but I don't need market research to love a person for who they are.

My wife is 46 and has put on a few pounds in our 24 years of marriage.
I still want to sex her up.

But...

I think it's wrong to promote an unhealthy lifestyle in a fitness magazine.
We shouldn't lower the standards or we will not have any standards.

You are assuming that a filled out figure is unhealthy and that Bulimia Barbie is the healthy one.

Just depends on genetics and not what Hollywood says.

(as an aside, I just found out the other day that Barbie was modeled from a German blowup sex doll. Too funny)

Saying that a fat girl is unhealthy doesn't mean that a skinny girl is healthy.
The pendulum can swing to far in either direction.

The girl posted wasn't fat.

She was proportional.

Fat is 300 pounds.

As an interesting social experiment, we should ask people their country of origin when commenting on the girth of the model.

And yeah, shes overweight and will not be proportional when shes older.
