Sen. Sanders: 'Hypocrite' Trump rants against immigrants, but hires them at his properties

Bernie bringing on the burn folks:

"What a hypocrite!" Sanders tweeted. "@realDonaldTrump makes hateful and racist rants every day about how immigrants are 'bad' for the country, but he had no problem hiring undocumented immigrants to help him build the Trump Hotel in DC or Trump Tower in New York City."

Sanders later added that Trump repeatedly tells Americans "how much he hates immigrants and how much he loves American workers" while saying that “last year, Trump chose to hire only one American worker even though thousands of Americans wanted to work at his Mar-a-Lago resort."

Trumps major focus has of course been on illegal immigrants but his policy and commentary in the past has time and time again expanded to immigrants in general citing his Americans first policy. Bernie does bring on a point about Trump's major inconsistencies on this matter:

Sanders appeared to be at least partly referencing a Vox report released earlier this year that revealed only one out of 144 jobs at three of Trump's Florida and New York properties went to a U.S. worker between 2016 and 2017. The other 143 were given to foreign guest workers, according to the analysis.

The analysis also showed that the Trump Organization relies heavily on the H-2B visa program, which allows seasonal, nonagricultural employers to hire foreign workers when they can’t find American ones. Vox notes the Trump administration temporarily expanded this program in 2017.

To start we can look at Trump's very own businesses. I posted a thread about how one of his organizations won 70 visas for foreign workers last year instead of hiring locals. This is just one of his organisations. Not to mention the fact Trump has not at any capacity made any effort to enforce labor laws on those corporations responsible for hiring many of these illegals, the core motivation for why many of them cross the border. There's also the fact Trump has had a history with his very own organizations hiring illegals:

Donald Trump quietly paid $1.4 million in 1998 to settle a class-action lawsuit that alleged he stiffed a union pension fund by employing undocumented Polish laborers to demolish a department store to make way for Trump Tower.

The amount became public this week after a judge released previously sealed settlement documents in response to a motion filed by Time Inc. and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press in 2016.

His policy focus has been on enforcing the Southern border which makes no sense considering the stats. Illegal border crossings on the southern border are at record lows since the Obama administration and the predominant method tends to be those who gain legal entry into the US who then end up overstaying their Visa alllowances. He's actions don't appear to be consistent at all and once again Bernie is the only politician with enough balls to say it like it is. He needs to start his own party imho.

Oh he'll have a lot to clean up after this administration.... it'll take two terms of Bernie... but looking at the Corporate Republicans and Democrats and the stranglehold they have on DC.... I just don't have much faith in the system... or the people...

To wit, the past hiring of illegal immigrants by other places of business now lies in his lap to address and fix? That could be possible however from the looks of the OP, no one is taking that into consideration.

Trump is against illegal immigrants, not immigrants as a whole. If they go through the proper channels he said he has no problems with them. Remember, criminals have a hard time getting proper immigration papers, they will not get into the country easily legally. It is a lot easier for people who are honest decent hard working people to get in legally. The problem is ignorance of the laws of our country. Those laws are to protect us, we got enough bad people here already, lots of Jerks too, we do not need more of them.
