Several sources which I can't name so we will just call them anonymous told me he brought a prostitute into the capital office he has and smoked crack with HIM up in the balcony of the House Chamber.

They also revealed that he stole one of the Secret Service vehicles to go buy more meth and wrecked it and beat the nine bells out of the male prostitute before he walked away. Sounds like he deserved to be fired so good riddance. My sources also reveal that he also attempted to bribe the House SGT of Arms to not report any of this but that part just sounds a little far fetched to me

All politicians are evil.

Both parties want to take away our freedoms. They just attack from opposite directions.

Given the doctrine of separation of church and state, what is a chaplain doing in Congress anyway. Why is the government paying for a preacher to preach in a public space?

I suppose a person could ignore context and call it not political?

I suppose a person could call anything that rubs them the wrong way political. I suppose Ryan did so.

That was the context at the time, so I'd assume it was the why. Hard to say.

Word on the street is that it primarily had to do with a prayer

don't you know a contrived excuse when you hear it ...

Paul Ryan needs to go. I don't think I'm the only one who is sick of his ass.

There is a long story behind that aspect that goes back to the very roots of what made the republican party, and some would argue politics in America in general, what it is today.

I created an extensive thread on the topic quite some time ago, but never posted it as I realized ATS is not in the right mind to receive it. So I was not going to waste any more of my time.

Anyway, check out James Fifield Jr. if you want to go down that road.

Actually since I'm neither a supporter of the Dem's or Republicans, I'm not really making a political point. I'm just commenting on what the reason would be and why a chaplain on the taxpayer payroll should not be lobbying in a prayer to try and influence a vote.

I'm just guessing the guy was an activist and we may not know the whole story anyway. Who knows?

"May their efforts these days guarantee that there are not winners and losers under new tax laws, but benefits balanced and shared by all Americans."

Wasn't that pretty much the Lefts argument against the Right?

No, they're not. That's lazy thinking. There are good people on both sides.

I don't believe that Paul Ryan is among them.

He fired the guy bc everyone knows exactly what that tax bill was about - despite announcements to the contrary, and Paul Ryan didn't like someone speaking the truth in "his" House. Paul Ryan will decide which "Christian" prayer is sufficiently "un-Christian" enough for him.

I look at the words prayed on the floor, and I look at the words of Jesus, and I don't see Jesus having a problem with them, but Paul Ryan sure did, and I find that telling.

In today's environment, saying something as generic and unoffensive as what he said can get you labeled a commie/socialist. Guess we should be glad he only got the boot.

Well, I think you're a bit extreme with the commie/socialist thing, but then that's the nature of politics.

To be honest it depends on when. A Democrat might be upset because it's calling for equal taxation if you carry it to the extreme for partisan crap reasons. Aren't they against fair tax rates that are the same for everyone? You could also read that as "balanced" meaning rich should be taxed more. It can play both ways, depending on the propagandist spinning it.

wasn't actually the claim the republicans made about their bill though?
that is was fair and balanced? that there was no losers and we all would gain??
so, if a priest prayed that and the believers had the faith that god would answer his prayer, well, wouldn't that kind of support the republicans claim, that the bill they passed was fair and balanced, with no losers, we all would gain?
it's kind of hard to claim that it's political when both sides would, like they usually do when it comes to anything in religion, interpret it to confirm their own preset conclusions about an issue.
