Apparently, this was in June.

Some curious reasons for wanting to fire Mueller:

First, he claimed a dispute years ago over fees at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., had prompted Mr. Mueller, the F.B.I. director at the time, to resign his membership.

Oh so maybe Mueller and the president were still feuding?

This is, hilariously, undone by his next reasons:

The president also said Mr. Mueller could not be impartial because he had most recently worked for the law firm that previously represented the president's son-in-law...

Um... so he's arguing that Mueller would be biased... for him?

Finally, the president said, Mr. Mueller had been interviewed to return as the F.B.I. director the day before...

Twice???

I just don't have words for this. Please read the article.

Trump was talked out of firing Mueller last June, source says

President Trump told top officials this past June that he wanted to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, but was talked out of doing so by White House counsel Don McGahn and other aides, a source close to the White House told Fox News late Thursday.

The source could neither confirm nor deny a New York Times report that Trump ordered Mueller's dismissal, but backed down when McGahn threatened to resign instead.

Fox appears to be jumping into the frenzy.

this is interesting, but not a big deal as far as I can see.

I think firing him would have been a huge mistake.

But he listened to his counsel, and didnt, so although this is an interesting tidbit, not a big deal to me.

I'm watching this right now.

So wonder what the real reason is???

I like how there are no sources claiming that Trump ordered the firing.

Then in turn, Trump caved because "someone" was threatening to quit.

Sure, not a big deal - just Trump's attempt to obstruct justice a second (or third) time? Who's counting anymore...

You do realize these are more anonymous sources, right? (Sr White House Officials)

It’s a waste of my time to read such unverified stuff.

He has not obstructed justice at all yet.

He was allowed to fire comey, the investigation continued, Comey admitted Trump wanted the fbni to get to the bottom of anyone in his campaign that did something illegal with russia.

And in case you missed it, he didnt fire Mueller. He just uestioned if he could be impartial, and was talked out of it.

Well sure as will all things anonymous, it should not be taken as fact.

But i see no problem in discussing it if it was true.

He has zero respect for the law or our country. This is all because he wanted to play candidate.

This isn't a huge deal like 2 FBI agents having a negative opinion of Trump... This is just an order by the president to obstruct justice. We prolly shouldn't even be talking about this.

Went from playing candidate to becoming POTUS. I wonder what he could accomplish if he actually tried...

Strong allegations. Strong evidence? Not so much.

He did then backed off.
Why does he want to stop this investigation and why is he so stupid as to try this twice?
