Butler and Lowndes counties aren't even the worst poverty counties in Alabama !!

And look at other states .........

Try California, New York and Illinois.

Poverty levels high there too.

The problem is not a '''partisan''' problem.

The rate of wage growth in the U.S. started stagnating well before Reagan.

I agree. There are poor places everywhere in this country.

Is everyplace in the AL counties like that? No city sewer system or all failed septic systems?

Sounds like a place in India.

HE'S NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE WHAT GOES ON IN AMERICA TODAY

It's all the Republicans fault after 8 years of Hope and Change? What does that tell you?

Are the Local officials in the counties the UN visited Dems or Republicans?

And they could fix it if they put in the effort. When i was in the army we would build septic systems in villages extremely cheap. 2 55 gal barrels and pvc pipe costs maybe 200.00 and alot of digging. Part of the problem is people dont know how to do anything without the government. Why isnt some local charity solving this?

As I recall, Alabama is heavily Republican? With a Republican controlled house and Governorship? Hasn't the Republican Party been the majority in Congress for 7 years now? Who's president at the moment? Oh, Republican.

But liberals. Those darn liberals.

7 years, compared to the democratic control the state has suffered for decades.

Hmmmmmmmm.

I agree with your points but nothing will get done until the Republican Party is exposed

They rule the country now, that’s just how dumb the American people are.

America cold have been great but the rich have hired a group of politicians to deceive the country and their doing a great job of it.

People here, lament “Oh the rich, I feel so sorry for them they pay so much taxes”

How stupid is that?

And you don't think the left is bought and paid for?

Can't use the Koch Bros to make your point stick, since they endorsed Killary huh?

YOu are assuming that even if the locals got together and rigged their own system that government would not then come along and rip it out and fine them for having done so and for violating all kinds of regulations and rules in the process of having done so.

Like that guy in Canada who got tired of waiting on government and built a set of stairs.

This is just another attempt by the UN to mess with internal US affairs. They want to impose gun control, speech control, economic controls, immigration quotas - you name it they think they have the right to meddle. Guess it's our fault for joining in the first place but it certainly went well beyond it's original scope and due to composition of it's membership has a decidedly socialist agenda.

It's not. It really, really isn't. There are impoverished liberals and impoverished conservatives.

It becomes partisan when someone asks why these people are in poverty. It becomes partisan when someone asks how we can help the impoverished.

Have you every got a septic system quote? They are costly as stated in the article. Some of the pics in the article show Mobile homes. The Mobile home Park owner should legally have to provide a working septic system if there isn't a city hookup, I would think. That's strange to me.

I’m talking about the objective reality that republicans are doing everything in their power to let the rich pay meager taxes and that is ruining the country.

How much money do these people need? How many yachts can they buy?

How many planes and houses and race horses do they need?

A modern society needs resources to maintain a modern and technologically forward society.

As our children go without computers and get led poisoned

We buy their products, work for them, WE make them rich—the society they leach off of makes them rich…

They owe the society that gives them the privelage of being wealthy off of the society.

That part is true enough.

It also becomes partisan when everyone assumes the other doesn't care or doesn't want to help.

Your mistake is to focus on what others have and how you can take it.

Why not focus on how you can help others make their own and do for themselves?

The swamps smell pretty terrible down south. Georgia swamps really stink. I doubt if I could ever get used to that smell.

How come those houses are not required to have drainfields. I can see laundry water bypassing the septic into the drainfield or into the yard so it does not hurt the septic tank, but that is illegal now too. It just means it needs to be pumped more often. We have a septic tank, we learned to only buy certain laundry soaps that are either borox based or sodium bicarbonate based. It does help keep the septic tank working better I think.

My friend, I don’t need anything from rich folks. If anything they need me to buy their products…We, though as a society do need their contribution because the infrastructure is dependent on it.

This isn’t a case of going out and building your own roads, bridges, trains. Hiring ones own police or fire fighters.

I experience it; I see the schools breaking down because of lack of funds.

Can’t repair the children’s computers because the governor doesn’t want to tax the rich

I see the roads breaking down everyday where you could hardly get to work anymore.

Trains so old they cant even move

So what’s your point ?

My point was that trickle down doesn’t work.

And that the US economy stagnated after the 80’s

Until Bill Clinton raised taxes again and then there was a real economic boom

"Trickle down works". It's called capitalism with lip service to free enterprise. It was there before Reagan and ever since. It is the system of every nation in the world. Period.

"Trickle down" was an invented jingoism as the Dems had no valid platform to rebut Reagan as they were responsible for double digit inflation and unemployment.

It's IS out of whack and needs repair, but it works. No Capitalism and there's no "socialism". The source of wealth distribution is the source of the wealth. A simple truth.

Spin away to your heart's content, though. We'll continue to hang around and correct those millenials that get suck into the fair tale....
