www.cnn.com...

Apparently this will take place during the 3rd age of Middle Earth leading up to the Fellowship of the RIng.

While I think it would be amazing to see the Silmarillion my hope is that this is of the dramatic quality that GoT has achieved so far.

Also if this is posted..just delete..lol

LOTR and GOT are apples and oranges.

I prefer GOT.

If the current take on fantasy fiction is any indicator, I think this may get very dark. Not that I mind personally but that is far and away from what Tolkien was trying to accomplish in my estimation.

No doubt but dont think for one second that Martin wasnt influenced by Tolkien as evidence by the RR in his name along with other things he has stated.

The reality of it is though that pretty much every modern Fantasy author has been influenced by Tolkien..From Erickson to Hobb to the guy who wrote The Name of the Wind (cant think of his name right now)

To each his or her own then.

I have been happy with the first 7 seasons of GOT and hope they finish the last well..
I was happy with the first 3 Rings movies.

Ill look forward to watching this just like I waited for GoT to start.

I agree, lol! Loved The Hobbit and LOTR books, but couldn’t get through that one. The only person that I know who ever finished The Silmarillion is my son - when he was in 7th grade. I was floored! But he IS a bit of a geek.
