Politics is pretty much way down at the bottom of that list for me, hah!

I don't have a family or many loved ones so I am allowed to be free and irresponsible as no dependants.

My favourite likes are Jesus, Music, Poetry, Women and that little green girl that I am only permitted to talk about in code.

I am severely rationed ('cept for green girl who is here always in full bloom) like we are at war for all my likes. None of them really cost a penny, but the world tries to exploit all of them for MONEY.

Go hang on your money tree, Money!

My favourite like is of course Christ. I hope He will forgive me for liking the rest, but compared to exploiting businessmen, violent people, arms dealers I am a #ing SAINT.

When I say "women" I don't mean I sleep around. I am totally monogamous and have NEVER cheated on a woman. I was tempted many times when in relationships, but I loved my babies so much; I still do, all of them, but I am too hot for women. They can't cope and I do understand as I am very demanding and diverse. If any woman does not believe me all I can say is I DARE YOU TO GIVE IT A TRY, so I am covered on all angles, lol.

So, fellow inmates of the madhouse ape planet, what rings your ding-a-ling? I want to know why, too. Why does it bring you that good feeling? Is it a sinful thing or is it just an innocent pleasure? I have been totally honest here. I admit sometimes there are paradoxes in my nature. I am a paradox. They call me bipolar because of it. Saint or sinner/neither or both?

EDIT: meme replaced with just the statement. "Every SAINT has a past and every SINNER has a future." Also, I just added poetry to the list. I bloody well LOVE poetry and that makes me want to live, too. It inspires me. I get soooo many ideas from poetry. it's amazing.

Bi polar eh? explains a lot. Join the club, we may have more in common than either are comfortable with

What I like about my life may sound a little twee but I like the simple things these days. I lived a very hedonistic life for many years but now I am happy if I find a good book at a really good price (Like 20p at a jumble sale)

Or when someone has made you a cup of coffee and you forgot and then remember when it is exactly the right temperature to drink.

Whoever said the best things in life are free was a pretty savvy chap when you think about it.

Great question, I thought I could easily answer. The mystery of life is the greatest and most beautiful thing about this planet. On a simple level, I love nature and all it's splendor. My son, a pure love that I can't explain with words. This place is a real trip!

Bless. I actually really value all your contributions. There are many things I agree with you on over these past years of mutual interactions. Really, humans are about creating chasms out of split hairs.

Just for you and other bipolar types: I think it is a natural occurring gene that is not an illness. There have been far too many BRILLIANT minds evolving us who were bipolar for it to be an illness.

It does not fit with the military industrial complex though. Therefore we'll be pushed to perimeters and forgotten about unless we are connected and up in society. Then we would be poets, famous musicians, authors, painters, politicians, mathematicians, scientists, all highly original contributors because of the way our minds are constantly "irritated".

Hey, my friend. No need for us to apologise for anything we think. Honesty is always the best as then we know where we all stand.

I respect you very much. I am trying vey hard these days to be as reasonable as I can, but we do all have triggers. When we get hurt we sometimes feel like stinging back. Using wit to sting back is not harmful though. It's either educational or just makes the target even more entrenched, i guess.

I am always open to new concepts and knowledge. As we get older this gets a lot harder. We can fight it, though. I am determined not to go down that grumpy old geezer dead end cul-de-sac.

I am glad of our diversity and originality as individuals, but sometimes its nice to chat about stuff that does not divide us, common human experience. I moaned at a couple of members the other day. They think I am an enemy may be, but I still give them stars. Even today I was giving one of those members stars because they are very valued.

Your likes are very nice. I don't mean i am all partying. I live alone and in fact live like a monk. I meant women in the widest sense, not sexually. I meant aesthetically and just the pleasing images I see every day. They actually effect me in a very nice way. I'm no worse than Aldous Huxley. Just some people are psychically curious.

I love the things that do not divide us regardless of general opinions.

You love Jesus and his teachings but I take a lot of my outlooks on life with this bloke.

Yes, it is. Of course I love all that, too. I live in nature. I take it for granted. The ocean is great. I was just meaning the things that please me most on a selfish level. I would answer totally differently if we were talking altruistically; you know, the pleasure angle.

C'mon guys, we all have pleasures. I would not bother to carry on living without these things. My life is far from perfect. I am in a kind of prison and I feel my prison bars around me. Do you see how that reflects in my chosen pleasures? Might a prisoner not answer similarly?

My prison is very complex. Some bars are put there by others (as I must also live in their perception). Misunderstandings, denials are all prison bars. Other bars the authorities have put there (no other explanation necessary). The desert of opportunities are more prison bars. I put prison bars up for me, too. My family do, my friends do.

Just to make sure you guys understand I am not selfish. I am talking about those pleasures we are all allowed to have. I think we do feel guilty still in the West about pleasure (don't because the rich guy certainly doesn't). It comes from the bashings we have taken from the Catholics and Protestants perhaps? Yet, those very kind ended up abusing children SOMETIMES. Self control does not mean denial. It means control doesn't it. It means handling it. There was something fundamentally wrong with the keeping up of appearances and the stiff moral upper lip. It was most hypocritical. Yet the liberal elite are far too hedonistic for their own good, too, sometimes.

Damn, I was trying to make this thread light entertainment and look where our analysing takes everything (brain does a back flip).

I am sort of getting your drift here.

Death is the great Equaliser and Humiliator of humanity (and all matter).

Don't ever think that the elites have it easy. NONE of us have it easy. Lady Gaga was telling people the other day don't think it's all that it's cracked up to be. Personally, I know how restrained their lives are. They have to do and say the right thing (at least keep up the public facade) at every turn. i think these people were being so restrained that it was turning SOME of them perverse. It's an emotionally cold world and there are lots of enemies and backstabbing. It is not easy. If I could weigh it I would say no matter how much money and power a person has their burden is as great as the lump of gold they want this world to be.

To me the world is as light as a feather. It has little weight and no gold. I stored my treasure and my tears way out of the grasp of the bankers, politicians and other people even; even family and friends. It is very strange to see Christ's ideas turning out to be so true for me. This Treasure has now taken first place. That's just a personal thing, though. I'm not trying to throw that on anybody else.

That's lovely. That is why I said women bring me pleasure. It is because you are like this. Even your pleasure is for your family and the woman you love who is with you making you the guy you are.

Unfortunately I am denied that kind of adult responsibility. My fate has been to be a Peter Pan. I did not choose it. I would have chosen what you have and my pleasure would be the same as your's.

Lol, I was a pesky school teacher just then and corrected the spelling in your homework. Thanks for making the world go round.

Watching my daughters grow, mature, learn and develop into the young women they are becoming, that is definitely number one on my list.
The tall glass of wine after a long/hard day.
Seeing a staff that I have trained be promoted to a higher position and them including me in their list of reasons why. Also when a person thanks me for their staff in their home and that staff is bringing them joy and becomes a friend.
Seeing the happiness in a homeowners face when the job turned out better than expected and less costly.
The never ending chore of the birds that grace my backyard. My pets that act as if I've been gone a lifetime when I only went to the store.
The flowers and plants that I care for.
Friday and Saturday football season (Nope! Don't really follow the NFL it's high school and SEC for me!)
Basketball year round.
Hiking and camping in Tennessee.
Seeing the sun rise, as I did just a minute ago, and thinking about my friend across the pond. Wondering if the sun kissed his face gently this morning before it's journey to meet me.
Storing away money for my relocation to the coast, when the time is right.
I'm a simple person, with simple desires.
The list of things that don't bring me joy would be much longer. The list above helps the balance.

There are a lot of amazing things about my life, and life in general. I was just thinking how amazing it is that us humans have developed so much culture - even the idea that we are able to express ourselves with language to the extent that we do, even written language, is a miracle.

The internet brings together so much culture and it is available to surf on a computer or even a mobile phone from almost anywhere on Earth, to top it off, there are so many videos to watch, so much to learn, so many people to interact with - the amount of content on the internet is staggering, way more than one individual could ever hope to consume even if they spent every waking hour of their life working on it.

How did humans get to be so much more advanced in certain areas than other species on this planet? How did our planet get lucky enough to have such a rich and diverse amount of life on it? Although the universe is unlimited in size and there are certainly other planets similar to Earth out there, how rare are they?

We don't really know at this point, there might even be some sort of basic life on other planets or moons in our solar system. Even so, as far as I know, life only started once on Earth - it does not seem to have been a common enough occurrence to have happened more than once, even with the favorable conditions of our home planet.

I think all of us humans are very lucky today to be able to experience life to the extent that we do, especially with modern technology.

Yes, you see I know this about America and Americans (I mean all in the diversity spectrum), but there is so much BS around at the moment. It is a great culture, but with you guys you gotta ask. I said a few days ago that American culture is actually humble and understated. I mean real life, not just Hollywood.

Americans are very family orientated. Look at the level of commitment here. Even when I am asking about pleasure it is family, environment and culture.

It's very interesting. I love learning about people. This is really good for me to read because I don't get to meet many people these days and I am trying to keep a link and understand what people are thinking. Many other people are doing this, too. Really, people argue about each other and disagree, but we are all coming here to read other people's attitudes.

Sorry, a liberal streak is coming out in me today. I'm being all positive and exploring common bonds instead of fractures. Sometimes I just need to remember what is good about us. So much negativity around, tough game.

Very enthusiastic. Yes, digitally it's great. I have a real hard time communicating online. ATS is about the only place I can fit even slightly. Even that being said, it's very difficult. Alternative people do struggle in this world. It is very uniform now.

I get the feeling that the U.S is a bit more open. Not always, but there is, despite what the media would say, a cosmopolitan vibe of a wide spectrum of human diversity in all things. That's very beautiful and very FUTURE. Britain can't quite do what America can do. That is why I am attracted to a lot of American culture and vibes (music, literature, movies, media in general).

In the UK, people are so under the thumb. It is sorrowful. It's not even the government doing it. It is them doing it to themselves and they are trapping me in it, too. It's like people are shutting down. It's very sad. Austerity is part of that, but money should not ruin our lives. If we don't have much we can still try and have some fun. Too much MISERY!

Two, that I don't understand how life ends, and that doesn't bother me.
Three, I go and I will go till I no longer able to go forward, both mentally and physically , and at that point in my life, shall the candle of the energy that shines in my heart take me on a journey to the unknown.

For me it's my perfect little family, my job, the area I live in.

Since my old lady passed away things have slowly fallen into place.

I'm happy at work and am respected by those I work with - mutual respect, not a forced hierarchy.

My family - the Mrs, the little girl and the monster boy - their all great fun and loving.

I'm living out in the sticks, back where I grew up, I know the village, the village knows me - it's something I would have hated 10 years ago but now I love it. Surrounded by nature and friends.

The big one - the major one - the one which most men have in common - fishing.... I love it. Lure fishing, river trotting, sea fishing from a boat or beach casting from the shore, carp fishing for a few days in a row - it's the perfect release, surrounded by nature.

All the while people around me are crumbling. I'm wondering when it will be my turn. Because unfortunately when you have all this great stuff in your life all that can happen is that you lose it. There are so many combinations of loss that I fear to explore further. Family loss - unthinkable. House loss - not so bad. Job loss - no major problem. Fishing loss - would be the result of a bad accident or something so yeah that wouldn't be ideal.

I'm a nightmare for it. When I take a picture of my kids I instantly envisage the picture on a projector at a funeral after some major fkn disaster. I guess it's my brain's way of preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

Kind words always goes to the "golden heart of thought" that connects with words of spoken kindness. Music, for one that can play it in harmony with ones soul, truly can not be expressed in words, yet it can be heard in the sound of notes that touch our hearts.

Hahaha! Nice choice. It's interesting isn't it that sexuality can actually be a powerful getaway from the woes of the world. In the West, as we know, we use it a lot. Have you analysed what is going on process wise in relation to this? I mean do you ask yourself questions about why it does it for you? German women are very advanced that way. they are fully "confident". I wonder if you like that aspect of it, too.

I'll man up alongside you and say I do use porn, but I keep it low profile (like about 3/4 hour weekly and I only respond to solos generally, though there are times when I can't even limit it to just that. It's a tricky business. That's the Christian in me, yet total denial eludes me and I am not sure I want total denial any way. I have made no oath or vow. I am only human and when not in a relationship...well it's obvious. I know I must respect women and so i try to limit everything to the solo performance. Control and morality has a place in porn and we are growing up now as adults after exposure to it. We will mature in our use of pornography. Sexuality is a huge part of a human being. What's wrong with that?

I don't think women should hide their interest as much as they do. There is no shame because we all have to get our kicks as adults. it's a biological necessity, a trick of nature. Only the most aesthetic of monks has any chance of totally winning over it. In the old days monks used to use a certain herbal inhibitor of sexuality. It had a really bad effect on their reproductive physiology. Their testes shrank to nothing and that's not a healthy thing. I looked into it and their is no herbal or synthetic drug that can cure sexual desire without damaging us physiologically. I don't like the hiding things because it represses people in an unhealthy manner and they end up doing some very abusive things. Your Germans are very advanced and sophisticated sexually.
