Only if that law causes more harm than good to society. ObamaCare is one of them..by a long-shot.

Speaking of which, the Birth Control mandate of ObamaCare was scaled back a little bit, by President Trump, this morning.

The Trump administration has announced a major rollback of the ObamaCare contraceptive mandate, granting what officials called “full protection” to a wide range of companies and organizations that claim a “religious or moral objection” to providing the coverage.

The mandate, which has been the subject of multiple legal challenges, has required employers that provide health insurance to cover contraceptives. Under the existing policy, churches and houses of worship were exempt, while religious-affiliated groups that object had to allow a third-party administrator or insurer to handle birth control coverage. The 2014 Hobby Lobby decision expanded exemptions to for-profit “closely held” corporations.

But under the new policy unveiled Friday, the Trump administration is expanding the protections to any nonprofit group, non-publicly traded company, or higher education institution with religious or moral objections -- and making the third-party provision optional for groups with “sincerely held” religious beliefs.

“This rule will leave coverage for 99.9 percent of women in place,” a senior official said.

This impending Executive Order from President Trump will make millions of Middle/Upper-Middle class Americans VERY Happy!
abcnews.go.com...

Rand Paul and Donald Trump have been working together on this for several weeks. Designed to be implemented ASAP, because Repeal would not have kicked in until 2020.

Tip: It's not the "state lines" aspect that the big thing. It's being able to buy the health insurance you want and can afford again..just like pre-ObamaCare.

The sicker/poorer can stay with their ObamaCare single-payer. Everyone else will have Free Market choices. The Executive Order will use similiar "waiver" language that the Obama Admin allowed Christian Health Share plans use, to keep themselves legal and flexible with benefits.

Naturally, Democrats will go ballistic when they hear of this... but that's OK. The Bi-Partisan Commission can throw lots of money at ObamaCare, and the sick/poor won't be hurt by the departure of the healthy middle/upper-middle class individuals and families. (Most don't have ObamaCare anyway. Can no longer afford it. 2 million left just this year so far.)

A little more info on the above Executive Order that's expected to be signed this coming week, along with President Trump's efforts to work with Chuck Schumer.

www.zerohedge.com...

As pointed out earlier, this E.O. will be a HUGE WIN for relatively health people who have to buy their own health insurance, and earn over $35,000 @ year.

This past Wednesday, Republicans and Democrats "quietly" voted to dismantle ObamaCare's, Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).

This group was tasked with cutting Senior Citizen's Medicare, in areas where it became too expensive. Sarah Palin coined the term, "Death Panel" for the IPAB, shortly after ObamaCare was passed.

No.. as you saw today, the Executive Order was REAL. The FAKE NEWS, based on "sources" who peddle rumors and lies for a living, emanates from CNN / NBC / NYT / WaPo, for the most part.

HOT OFF THE PRESS... This may be a rumor, but I don't think so. President Trump has figured out that Congress is a bunch of impotent free-loaders unless "dire harm" threatens a significant portion of the population.

In May 2016, Federal Judge Rosemary Collyer, ruled that the ACA money paid to health insurance companies, to reduce the health insurance deductible of Americans who earn under 251% of FPL ($29,700 @ year) was not appropriated by Congress, and should be terminated. (The deductible is reduced to $500 / $250 / $0, depending on how low your income is.) SOURCE: healthaffairs.org...

This money is sent to participating ACA health insurance companies every month, and are called "Cost Sharing Reduction" subsidies. This amounts to about $7 Billion dollars a year of (non-appropriated) taxpayer dollars.

Naturally, President Obama kept the monthly payments to health insurance companies flowing. The Federal Judge's ruling was ignored.

President Trump has continued to authorize the payments as well.. but only because he thought the Republican Congress was a body of integrity, and would do what they promised for 7 years.

But..he's going put the pressure on both Republicans and Democrats to stop pretending like ObamaCare is doing fine. President Trump has (reportedly) decided to terminate these non-appropriated Cost Sharing Reduction payments to ObamaCare health insurance companies.

President Donald Trump plans to cut off critical subsidy payments to insurers selling Obamacare coverage, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The decision follows Trump's signing of an executive order earlier today that directs federal agencies to rewrite regulations to encourage the rise of a raft of cheap, loosely regulated health insurance plans that don't have to comply with certain Obamacare consumer protections and benefit rules.

Cost sharing reductions (CSR) were the only actual plans that were affordable under the ACA if you qualified. People could have a reasonable premium with a reasonable deductible and actually use the care. It's going to hurt anyone who gets a CSR.

Everyone needs to pressure Everyone, Democrats and Republicans alike, to get their collective acts together and pass the best damn healthcare bill for the American people. Obamacare had some good ideas, but was never designed to last beyond Obama funding wise and the premium hikes were delayed as well to give a false impression cost controlling.

We can draft a bipartisan plan that is better.

CSR payments are made to health insurance companies, to keep the out-of-pocket expenses low for people who earn between $16,000 and $29,000 a year, when they get medical care.

The regular APTC Subsidies are what keeps people who earn less than $45,000 from having to pay the full monthly premium for their ObamaCare health insurance.

What good is a low premium or even zero premium plan to someone making 25,000 if your deductible is 6,000? Most deductibles are individual ones. The Deductibles are more of the problem than the premiums in the ACA. I sold ACA plans, I can't begin to tell you how many got the plans but never went to a doctor as they feared the out of pocket costs of the deductible. The ACA only helped people if they have a very major health issue, other wise it was like not having any coverage at all, as you had to satisfy a 6,000 deductible before benefits kicked in. Sure you got an annual check-up but that's about it. Break your leg? You are paying out of pocket. Even a major event, with a 6,000 deductible, wasn't affordable to many

From my experience selling the
ACA, CSR with the premium subsidy were the only truly "affordable" plans in the Affordable Care Act. CSR are great plans as they are affordable enough to actually use. Sad thing was most people didn't even know about CSR and bought Bronze plans instead.

The people making incomes low enough to qualify for Cost Sharing Reduction of their Deductible, almost always get the CSR Silver plan, with the $0, or $250, or $500, or $1000 max out-of-pocket.

Yes..at first, their eyes zero in on the cheaper BRONZE plans, but by applying a little logic and common sense, they opt to pay $80 a month for the SILVER, instead of $10 a month for the $6,000 max out-of-pocket Bronze.

Here's a good summary of why the ACA is in so much trouble, and what needs to happen next, if Congress cares about the approx. 20 million Americans getting screwed.

Pa. insurance department says Obamacare rates to rise 30.6 percent

Obamacare health insurance premiums in Pennsylvania will jump an average 30.6 percent in 2018, nearly four times the increase that had been anticipated before cost-sharing reductions for the coverage were scrapped last week.

The original projection had been for an average 7.6 percent rate increase for individual health insurance plans purchased through the Affordable Care Act’s government exchange.

“It is with great regret that I must announce approved rates that are substantially higher than what companies initially requested,” Ms. Altman said in a prepared statement.

“This is not the situation that I hoped we would be in, but due to President Trump’s refusal to make cost-sharing reduction payments for 2018 and Congress’ inaction to appropriate funds, it is the reality that state regulators must face and the reason rate increases will be higher than they should be across the country.”

I fully expect the right wing to somehow blame Obama for this, even though it's completely the fault of Republicans in the executive branch and Congress.

Will they say that to their constituents when they're complaining about the 30% rate increases at town hall meetings? Once campaign season comes, I fully expect them to still blame the ACA/Obamacare for this crap.

They pulled that same crap when they railed against & then voted against Obama's "stimulus package". They did everything they could to prevent and then undermine it, yet they still went to the ribbon cutting projects in their districts and touted them as their own accomplishments.

They fully plan to blame their failures on Obama and democrats. Today, the president beat them to it in a interview. Even though he dismantled it with EO's, he said ' not my fault".

just my thoughts......
the only way a new health care system will work is if congress and all elected officials have to use it for themselves.

guarantee if congress has to use it, the health care act will be the best in the world.

Congress is using ObamaCare, but it's the EMPLOYER/BUSINESS OWNER version, known as S.H.O.P. (Small business Health Options Program). That is ILLEGAL. Congress is not a small business.

Plus, they are getting 75% of their monthly premium paid from the APTC ObamaCare subsidy pot. That is ILLEGAL, because they make too much money.

President Trump threatened to throw Congress off of SHOP, and into the general ObamaCare program, but changed his mind, after being reminded that HE NEEDS THEM to get legislation passed.
