This is why they changed from global warming to climate change. Global warming will be debunked, you can't debunk climate change, as climate has, and always will change.

very interesting,

Seeing multiple location breaking record heat, some at 51C-124F, and multiple sources saying 2017 so far is second warmest year on record only behind 2016.

There is worry the seed banks meant to last for long periods of time and ensure civilization are in danger from melting permafrost, antartica is starting to green up for the first time.

I posted the below in a previous thread, the document in it's entirety is quite long and detailed. I believe it important. Al Gore? Who cares? Yes, he was definitely in it for the money. But climate change is a real thing and we humans are playing a part in it.

"Many lines of evidence demonstrate that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases, are primarily responsible for the observed climate changes over the last 15 decades. There are no alternative explanations. There are no apparent natural cycles in the observational record that can explain the recent changes in climate (e.g., PAGES 2K 2013; Marcott et al. 2013). In addition, natural cycles within the Earth’s climate system can only redistribute heat; they cannot be responsible for the observed increase in the overall heat content of the climate system (Church et al. 2011). Internal variability, alternative explanations, or even unknown forcing factors cannot explain the majority of the observed changes in climate (Anderson et al. 2012)."

Popular Science

This is from a new government draft of a report on climate change. It's pretty damning for us human beings. So, trust in the science or just ignore what we don't like to hear?

Records that have only been gathered in the blink of an eye where the age of the Earth is considered. Those records?
The temps were a lot higher LOOOOONG before records were kept and recording started. You are referring to a minuscule period of time here....quite minuscule. And, the planet will survive regardless of what mankind can do to it. What we should be talking about is not saving the planet, but saving the human race.

There could be anything going on down in Antarctica and the melt may have nothing to do with the climate. If it does though, so be it. It's happened time and again throughout history and nothing we do will stop it if it's a natural cycle.

If it's not then shall we all just kill ourselves? I mean, we could try to develop non-fossil fuels but that would be to the detriment of huge multi-national corporations with so much control that nothing any of us does actually matters. Not to mention our governments are so deeply corrupt that short of killing them before we kill ourselves, we're pretty well stuck.

So, I intend on not worrying about it. It's a truly liberating feeling.

The data supporting this spurious claim has been cherry picked. The earth is warming. Climate change skeptic bloggers simply tell lies. Sorry.

Are you talking about Al Gore and his lies?

Then, I agree.

Did you read the abstract of that?

Antarctic ice has increased, but not even by a third of how much the arctic ice has decreased.

It's because Antarctica, usually a very dry place, is seeing increased precipitation from changing weather patterns.

It's my fault.

Remember when moms used to say, "Shut the door! We don't want to cool the whole planet!"

Well, I forgot and left the door open.

Sorry.

My bad.

No, but at least we have the world's scientists on our side. And the other side has... Oil company shills and people with no qualifications in climate science.

There are the ice cores to provide some clue about ancient climate. In any case will be interesting to see what the word is if in a few decades we get a blue ocean virtually ice free artic during summer.

The best scientists can only use the statistics available to them. The statistics are often incorrect or 'off' due to calibration issues or any number of reasons.

I'm no friend to big oil companies or any of those who believe fossil fuels are where our future lies, but when skewed stats are used or even skewed further through what is plainly bias from the opposite side, I know I tend to switch off.

Its only cooler because the base data hasn't been corrected to show a warming trend. Clearly CO2 is warming the atmosphere and we all will die unless you pay more taxes. For all you non believers look see the poor polar bear sitting on top what remains of the arctic ice cap. Its bearly big enough to support one polar bear now.

Sounds fairly consistent to me.

Since the late 1970s, the Arctic has lost an average of 20,800 square miles (53,900 square kilometers) of ice a year; the Antarctic has gained an average of 7,300 square miles (18,900 sq km). On Sept. 19 this year, for the first time ever since 1979, Antarctic sea ice extent exceeded 7.72 million square miles (20 million square kilometers), according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center. The ice extent stayed above this benchmark extent for several days. The average maximum extent between 1981 and 2010 was 7.23 million square miles (18.72 million square kilometers).

Second time at least, or there would not have been seeds etc, to green up from.

That isn't Antarctica

Antarctica Antarctica is Earth's southernmost continent. It contains the geographic South Pole and is situated in the Antarctic region of the Southern Hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean

Depends they can spread. Doesn't mean it was all green anytime recent.

In any case the seedbank was meant to last an eternity and endure all conceivable climate extremes, yet even it too is starting to fail.

The last week of May 2017 and first week of June brought one the most extraordinary heatwaves in world history to Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The mercury shot up to an astonishing 53.5°C (128.3°F) at Turbat, Pakistan on May 28, making it Earth’s hottest temperature ever recorded in the month of May—and one of Earth’s top-five hottest reliably-measured temperatures on record, for any month. Both Pakistan and Oman tied their all-time national heat records for any month during the heat wave, and all-time national heat records for the month of May were set in Iran, Norway and Austria. International weather records expert Maximiliano Herrera details the great heat wave in this guest post.-link

Yes, ice core data like I have posted here numerous times demonstrating that the temps were higher in the distant past (many times) before any sort of man-made influence was profitable. As for the arctic, I see you an Al Gore have that in common. But his prediction was proven false already. At least you didn't choose an actual date, and left it conveniently open for interpretation after your have left this doomed planet.

Do I believe the global average temperature is rising? Yes.
Do I think that temperature rise is due to human activity? No.
Do I think the past and present doom porn over this issue is making a few connected people quite rich at the expense of the greater population? Yes.
