Emma Goldman:
Patriotism ... is a superstition artificially created and maintained through a network of lies and falsehoods; a superstition that robs man of his self-respect and dignity, and increases his arrogance and conceit.

George Bernard Shaw:
Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all others because you were born in it.

Hermann Goering:
Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

You're standing on my neck. Garbage, a band, not the trash.

Jane Lane- How many fingers do you see? Daria- I don't know, but I have one for you.

Quinn- Daria, you wouldn't say that if your life was touched by an angel. Daria- You're right, I would be to busy suing for harassment. Quinn- Don't even joke about that, angles are everywhere, they'll hear you. Daria- Fine, then I am going upstairs and talk about you behind your back.

Daria- Quinn wears superficiality like an armor so she won't look inside and find nothing.

Jane- At what ungodly hour are you calling me? Daria- Noon.

Jane- Sorry to wake you up Trent. Trent- Don't worry Jane, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Trent- Practice ran late, or early, whatever.

Trent- I just got done practicing on my guitar for 10 hours. Jane- It counts if you're sleeping, right? Trent- As long as it doesn't fall out of your hands.

Or should I?

This was in the Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex Series, great show.

Also cool was Fox News was on GITS, Section 9 was being attacked by the government that was corrupt, and the news channel was controlled by the government and was going on how Section 9 was evil and stuff because the government said so. I was so amazed, I didn't know they had Fox News in Japan.
