Hello ATS and may I start out by saying that if you were drawn by this title, chances are you are more qualified to start a thread on battle rap than
I.
First of all, I'm kind of just a nice person (lol). I get uncomfortable watching (or hearing) people insulting and humiliating one another. I
don't really like braggarts either.. which is probably why when my husband is watching battle raps I tend to zone out.
I know that it's all in fun, that some of the best rappers came up through the battle scene, but I still can't help but cringe at some of the verses
out there.. ou ch!
Now that I've got that disclaimer aside, let me say that I have agreed to begin a rap battle thread right here on ATS, and looks like I'll have to
get the claws out a bit for some good, creative, verbal-assault fun.
Please stay posted for a thread titled "ATS Rap Battle" for the ATS Bout of the Century!!!!
Before we do that, though, I'd like to explore what makes a good rap battle and ask you all to post your favorite rap battles here.
This battle between Lux and Calicoe is one of those examples of a battle that gets me out of my comfort zone. I mean, I actually feel for Calicoe..
there is no coming back from this one. That last verse is peerless though and Loaded Lux speaks the TRUTH and is a wordsmith and has the crowd amped
up!
Enjoy the highlight reel here:
What are some of your favorite rap battles? What are your thoughts battle rap?
I've been watching battlerap for over a decade now, since the movement first spawned onto the internet. I use to watch it all, early Smack, early
KOTD, Grindtime, lion's den, fight club, etc. It has really evolved since then, and is now the epitome of showmanship and lyricism. Only the best and
toughest can hang now.
Loaded lux vs Calicoe is a classic and one of the greatest performances in history (Lux).
You always continue to surprise me my friend, have a great day!
Oh man I'll bet some gold came out of that one.
I am sad to say I never had a chance to know BlupBlup, though I have read at least one of his threads.
Thanks for the info.
I used to watch the smack battles and went to a few of the don't flop events as some of my friends were in em but I dunno..battle rap has kind of
become sanitized and it's more like performance art these days, which is cool for what it is and the bars are very creative plus it's great that
people can do it as a successful career...but I miss the danger of 2 guys in the hood just spitting fire at eachother where it could pop off at any
moment.

Auggie,
Blupblup actually started the first ats battle thread here back in 2011 ish ..It was eventually put under staff review and closed..
Looking forward to hearing you spit hot compasses and squares....
Once was enough. ATS would thank me in advance for not doing it again.
