Retailer apologizes after font makes ‘glitter’ appear to read as ‘Hitler’

OOPS, looks like Hitler but was supposed to be glitter. A simple font made all the difference. I guess no one bothered to check their work.

Marketers and designers take note: Font choice matters.

With the wrong font, a seemingly innocuous tote bag can get misinterpreted as mild hate speech. Check out the product below from the online retailer BelleChic, which Quotable Life designed and produced.

The company said it is a misinterpretation. Look at the bag, it says Hitler or Hitter.

“While I realize that most of the social media buzz and commentary has been tongue-in cheek, the type of abhorrent sentiment conveyed as part of the misinterpretation absolutely does not align with our company values, nor is it something we would ever want to encourage or support."

Looks like "Hitter" to me, but I can see how someone might mistake it for "Hitler."

This would not be a problem if people would stop using damn stupid cursive. It is outdated and unnecessary and just causes confusion such as the topic at hand.

I can't believe the advertising agency or marketing department didn't catch this before it went to production! This is par for the course for many of today's consumer products too! It seems like quality checks and testing are now rarely done before products are put out into the marketplace.

Jaded ass sarcasm aside, it would probably be helpful if people would quit looking for reasons to be "offended" by everything.

Although, as I stated, I can see how someone might mistake it for "Hitler." So, you may have a point.

I hate some of the fonts that are popular today. I can't tell the number 9 from 8 on credit/debit/gift cards without twisting them so that the light hits perfectly.
