It is amazing how many tin foil hat theories have been proven true in the time span you listed.

How many?
Amaze me.

My personal favorite is government mass surveillance and data storage of the people. The Google and CIA connections would be another.

Mass surveillance. I'll give you that one, but it was more along the lines of "well, duh" than the revelation of a big secret. And, as it turned out, that mass surveillance (gathering of metadata) wasn't quite the tale that the conspiracy theory told.

Deep State. Pretty vauge what that means. But you said "proven true."

Iraq WMDs? No, not a conspiracy theory. A blatant lie to which a great number of people (including me, including members of Congress) said bull# when we were shown them glossy 8x10s.

ISIS finance? I thought you said "proven true."

I count four so far. I believe I am missing a few though.

Perhaps I can help you in your efforts by being more specific. But first, when you say

It is amazing how many tin foil hat theories have been proven true in the time span you listed.
, what do you mean by "tin foil hat theories?" Does it include things like Nibiru and "chemtrails?"

I was a kid when the Cuban Missile Crisis was going on. It was scary, but I was mostly reacting to the way my parents were acting about it. When I look back now with what I know, it was probably the scariest situation ever. Not to try to diminish what is going on today.... but I do not think it holds a candle in retrospect.

Yeah. But then there was that low intensity but constant duck and cover mentality.

Long term stressors can be consequential.

That was 20 years before I was born. I can't relate and thought it prudent to include in my post how from my view how this seems. Even on the morning of 9/11, the implications didn't seem as important, but that's subjective.

Thanks for the input and your perception.

It was real. They were in our classrooms with a projector, and then the drills.
After that , they started designating CD shelters, which were usually below ground.

You and me both.

My family didn't have a fallout shelter. We were going to die.

I just don't think I have the capacity to amaze you Phage! However, there are plenty of things that are in "tinfoil hat" territory that proved to be true. A revelation to you perhaps is a truly eye opening moment to another.

Retroactively, in particular.

The perception is still a personal one. Most everyone has had a glimpse at one time or the other of the worst we have to offer. Let's just hope we can keep it together.

Thats the problem older people have, trying to enlighten younger generations with the knowledge that this current endless war cycle is exactly the same as the one we lived thru during the 60s and early 70s.

The war in Vietnam was begun under a false flag (Gulf of Tokin), continued over a decade, though never declaring victory, the enemy today as then is still the Russians and Chinese, the same factories for war grind away expending millions of rounds and megatons of bombs to fight little bands of terrorist (guerrillas), all the while being scared by the media about the wider possibility of nuclear war, amid rousing cries of patriotism, flag waving and nationalism.

It is exactly the same, the same politicians, the same industrial war complex, the same hi finance institutions.

Result?

Millions dead, nations bombed out, huge debt, wealthy elite waxing rich off fear, misery, death and destruction. Our generation rose up and protested, gained such a following that they had to stop the wars, the corruption and the media manipulation.

Until now. A whole new generation has grown up that doesn't remember what its like, or see to a solution this time either.

I am almost forty years old, and frankly, the last 20 years have been insane globally. The world of today has no semblance of the world of even twenty years ago. It sure as hell doesn't even vaguely resemble the world I grew up in.

Granted, anyone paying attention, could see a lot of this stuff coming 15-20 years ago, but I don't think anyone knew exactly how outrageous it was really going to be. Now, we're amidst the madness.

I personally think Bush, Obama, Trump, whoever, are convenient scapegoats. Much of this stuff has been headed our direction for quite some time. However, the typical view has always been "FORWARD HO!!" Yeah, that's worked "wonderfully." People, in general, just aren't very bright. That's just being frankly honest

I agree. Things suck nowadays.

My personal take on this, and this is purely visceral, is that we are headed for a sort of global hot-boot. Hit the reset button and everyone just sit down and shut up for a few minutes while the software loads. This as opposed to a complete wipe of the hard drive and a fresh install of programs wiping out the history and personal data along the way. (sound familiar?)

The whole world right now is that little kid running amok spinning in circles screaming at the top of his lungs for no apparent reason. Everyone in the room is fed up and tired of listening to it but no one does anything. Finally, after what seems like an eternity, someone walks up to the kid, smacks him one good crack on the ass - and he freezes. We have all seen it happen. One of two things will happen next. Either he immediately picks up where he left off, or, he quietly takes a seat and thinks things over for a few minutes while deciding what to do for attention next.

This is what we have become - a toddler throwing tantrums for attention.
