however it would be basically impossible to make an large hologram this way without releasing too much heat

Some of my predictions is cybernetics taken to the next level and that and nano tech will make us live a lot longer.
The first spaceships being built in space and the first colony on Mars is at over 1000 people in 2050.
We are on a quantum network that makes our current Internet look like horse and carriage.
Or none of that and just wastelands and war with fanatics living the apocalypse dream.

Let's say we land the first group there in 2030 and there's a few new advancements that allow us to launch a lot cheaper. By 2040 we could have almost 100 people working the first bases making all kinds of discoveries.The first true single stage to orbit space vehicle will be fully operational and new materials will change everything.
By 2050 after many missions brining new crew and supplies Mars is being mined for resources and has close to if not 1000 people. I also hope my new cybernetic organs help me enjoy seeing all this stuff at 70.

Landing in 2030 is very ambitious. Landing by 2050 is more realistic. There are a lot of things that have to be done in order to land on Mars.

I work with them, they exist. Like I said though, they don't exist in quite the same way sci fi portrays them. Check out ODG's and Hololens.
