Join the military ... kid you not. You'll get to see the world.

When you start to work with (and for and inside and around) 'the team' you'll find your own values and that will lead you to career choices.

Married with a 5 month old, I don't really want to see the world.

Thank you for the suggestion, though.

LOL ... Youth and vitality are wasted on the young. Knowledge and wisdom ... wasted on the old.

And the wheel keeps spinning.
PM me when you figure it out.

As with my suggestions,
That just happened to work for me.

I also do a lot of crafting with My family. So much so, the wife and I opened up an online shop for our junk a while back. She paints and works with clay.
I take broken pocket watches or old wind up watches and make things.
My avatar is supposed to be a tiger. Made that with watch parts.
It's pretty dang tiny, the face sits in the pocket watch case.

So that could be another option for you, make crap and slang it over the interwebbs

I do not, for the life of me, know what I want to achieve.

Who says you need to achieve anything? Are you happy? If happy, you've reached the greatest and rarest milestone of them all.

If unhappy, then that will require a look within. No book, philosopher, or ATS member can help you find that key. That would defeat the purpose of self-journey.

To wish to financial freedom and success is simply a wish.. to attain it, you need to work.

Does money make you happy?

If yes, then I have no further advice.

If no, then I have no further advice.

Financial burden = stress.

Stress = less happy.

Does money make me happy? Indirectly.

Life in this reality is really over rated. People make things sound so exciting but in reality, most are bored seventy five percent of the time.

If they don't admit they are not bored more than half the time, they are either high, drunk, lying, or just plain nuts.

Well, that last sentence takes out half the population itself.

Pish-tosh! People with money are just as stressed and afraid of losing it and overspending etc. And I've seen tons of people who earn less than me living much more rich and fulfilling lifestyles.

Again, what is it you can't do for lack of money?

I feel like once you can answer this you will know a little better how to remedy these blues.

I instantly pictured a three-way venn diagram containing drunk, lying, and nuts.

If he doesn't enjoy working under people he'll hate the military. Besides we are getting ready for some real action and he has a family. Surely, he has other options like learning entrepreneurship.

Put one foot in front of the other and see where this journey takes you. It starts with the first step. Remember life is short and you never are going to get any younger. Life isn't a fairy tale.

Best thing I ever did to lose the blues is to buy a cheap guitar and learn how to play em.
Now I pick up a few buck playin with my crew in bars, coffee houses and private parties.

Join the brothers and sisters of wire and wood. Youtube lessons will have you rockin in 2 weeks.

find good works and replicate them, find bad works and make them good, or work in arts and entertainment.

what's really good and should be reproduced?

what's bad and could be, or should be, made better?

no hobbies? what about a hobby of a loved one? e.g. you could make a game for you daughter or open a flower shop for your wife.

It's cool if you go through life not knowing what exactly you want to do, focus on what you want to be.
All these 'achievements' that society has set is bull.

*Get married
*Have a family
*Excel at your corporate job
*Having little dinner parties every now and then to impress the neighbors
*Kids first day at school
etc...

These lives have been lived a billion times over and does not equate to happy humans with happy souls.
Focus rather on who you want to be instead of what you want to be.

Focus on your personality traits and perspective, change the way you see things, then you might see what you're looking for.

I think most people want to believe there is something that they can do that they *like* that will make enough money to pay the bills.

But maybe the truth is that whatever you decide will be hard and at times unpleasant work (once you get into the numbers that can support you). Not necessarily something you like to do.

If it were that enjoyable, you wouldn't have to pay someone to do it.
