Personally, I do think that our beliefs,views, and values are the seeds of our behaviors.
They determine our view of the world and our relationship with it, so they form our perceptions and reactions.
So I listen and observe others to see what kinds of experiences they have, and what kinds of views and values they have.

If I see behaviors I too, would like to develop, I consider adopting their views. It's not as easy as that, because even one twist in their system from thought can change what will come out of them - I need to analyze carefully and in depth to see what parts of their system I would like to adopt and which I don't.

But yeah, I do feel a certain responsibility for the beliefs and values I choose, because I become an agent of dispersion then - I become an example for others to observe too. I will propogate those ideas; I will carry those memes out into the world, and help them further their mission of survival and reproduction. So I try to consider their potential effects on a wider scale beyond myself. I also keep in mind that others need to exist as well, even if very different. Variety is necessary as many of the roles we'd like to play are relative and need opposing players.

When I started writing the OP, I was being acerbic. By the time I finished, I was writing as a liberal.

This is what an apology looks like. Over the top? Maybe.

Even the most radical share even a few of the values that I do. They aren't just "them". They are also "us".

Regardless if you wear a MAGA hat or burn cars or are somewhere in between, our ideologies do overlap.

We need to start taking ownership for what we do as a society. We've been divided for so long and have allowed ourselves to become divided that we can't even recognize when people share the same aspects of our ideology.

You realize we spend hours discussing this very situation and remain divided....no one seems to be able to find common ground anymore. The MSM is fomenting dissent and discord, our schools and Universities are staffed by the Left and we essentially have an ex-President who wants to revert to his community organizer tactics.

I'm all for moderation but I won't accept a one sided appeasement or deign to commit cultural suicide to placate an alternate reality....like Progressives, Socialists or Globalists. When you find the apex please let me know because I am watching the Left and I don't think they play well with others.
