I watched this documentary last night before bed.

Must admit it is pretty one sided painting the USA as the aggressor but what I didn't know about is the nuclear testing by the USA at the Marshall islands and to be frank I was pretty disgusted how the US government have treated the native islanders.

The Government even sent back the islanders telling them they were safe knowing full well they were not but it was a good opportunity to test the effects of radiation on a populace
.
Oh and they got 150 million when they went independent as long as no one sues the USA...

The documentary shows us that we are in a state of perpetual war and the end game is a war with china.
War makes money and money is more important then the common man it appears.
Anyhow it made me sad but well worth the watch.

I wonder if the Fallout creators foresaw the day when China became a world power capable of threatening the United States.

Seems like they , the Chinese , were set up for it .
I mean why would 'we' make China the sweatshop of the world ? Why would anybody buy baby formula that might have ingredients from N Korea ? Shrimp , anyone ?
Why not Brazil , or India ? That is , people who don't consider themselves to be at war with us ?
Stinks like night soil in a tilapia farm to me !

Well boxing in other nations by surrounding them with bases isn't going to help.
Both Russia and China feel the US/nato are doing this.

Bully? No, Yes, and maybe, just some idiots in the industrial military complex. When there is a disaster, Earthquake, Tidal wave, hurricane we are the first there with the most support. Famine, disease we feed and we treat. Are we stupid most of the time....Yes Too. We give food and money without checking who gets it and who does not. We financed many of our enemies, and then take them out because they got to big for their own good. (Panama, Philippines ect.). We tested radiation on our own population, (Washington state 1940's) We tested bio organisms over California, (bad year for the elderly.) A group tried to exterminate the poor back in the twenties, we tested lsd on our troops. Yea a lot of stupid selfish people in the land of the free, and that's just a small list. I could make a list of good larger then this....but it is the bad that is remembered and for a country which should be responsible for it actions we should remember.....if just to not do it again. . The people who help is the general population, the people who hurt are the selfish minority, but they have a bigger stick, and control in the background of our Democracy. It won't get better till a certain event occurs, which is set to happen soon. . a reply to: boozo

I saw this on TV some weeks back.

I thought it was both bizarre and extraordinary.

The bias was extremely obvious, much more so than I would expect from an authoritative documentary like that.

Essentially it seemed to be saying that the US are, and have always been, liars and agressors that use anyone, including their own, for whatever nefarious plans they intend to commit.
On the other hand, the Chinese are portrayed as very nice people who just want to be left alone.

Of course I am sympathetic to that idea, and I am sure that there is some truth in all the evidence given in the film. However its agenda was so very obvious, so very blatent, that I felt manipulated and annoyed.

I thought it a very strange thing for prime time TV, and I wondered why the TV was slagging off America and kiss assing to China.

It's not that I disagree. I'm just puzzled by it.

As I said very one sided but even so It did show me how the USA are surrounding China with bases in the Philippines now, I hope Russia and China are not allies as such and planning something.
Otherwise we are all doomed.

We're all doomed anyway.

But yes, I agred wiyh you. It talked about many things that are not often mentioned, or looked at familiar things from unusual angles. It was very interesting because of that.

I just felt that it was pointing these things out for a reason, and that reason wasn't clear to me.

Fascinating though. And that terrible bit about the natives, and the iron room. Patronising, racist and terrifying. Victims of something incomprehensible.

Sad, sad stuff.

Well, Pilger is a highly respected journalist but if he said stuff that was boring and ho-hum, he'd never get airtime.

The US, however is not the benign force that its citizens believe.

It spies on its own citizens (as Snowden has revealed).
It imprisons a greater number of its population than any other country and is second in the world in the rate of imprisonments.
It holds and tortures prisoners in secret detention centres outside its national borders to circumvent its human rights laws.
It is not the economic powerhouse it pretends to be (it's ranked about ninth).
It is the only country to use nuclear weapons against human targets.
It has involved itself combatitively in more wars than any other nation in modern history.
It was one of the last nations to give up slavery (and calls itself the land of the free!).

There are just a few things that come to mind, where the US is the stand out 'worst in the world'.

It doesn't have the moral high ground.

Please compare List of wars involving the People's Republic of China From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and List of wars involving the United States From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

It would appear that history is biased, too.

Perpetual war is big business...
When will the common man just say no and not send their sons and daughters to fight a war for profit.?

So, that might explain why China is (comparatively) peaceful - being socialist?

History is very biased.
I'm sure China has done loads of human rights abuses.
Britain experimented on people at Porton Down, did genocide in Tazmania, used mustard gas in WW1, and generallg stomped across the world in impiralist jackboots.

It's just that on a weekday night, after the news, ITV (The second most important channel in the UK) show films, or football, or celebirty crap, or X factor.

They do not show serious 2 hour documentaries by serious journalists that tell a story whoes narrative is the opposite of the one we are usually told.

It was extrordainary.
It said, explicitly, that the US is deliberately provoking war with China, that the US military are irredemably evil, and that we should side with China.

They never usually say that.
And they never, ever, say that on ITV at 10.40 on a Tuesday night.

It was weird.

I thought the aliens had taken over the studio, or something.
