The electoral college was designed to be specific. The idea of having the legislators choose the president would have the president beholden to the legislative branch. The electoral college was designed to remove that and to balance out state sovereignty.

All of Clintons popular votes people are using to argue came from one state - California. She won the state by like 4 million votes.

Some states are looking at a national popular vote law. It says the states electoral votes would go to the person who won the national popular vote. The level of disenfranchisement in that law is insane. To have an entire states population discounted because some other state gave them a popular vote win.

The electoral college needs to remain in place.
