Thats a bit negative, dontcha think?
Would you rather people never try to improve the world by advancing tech and instead just sit on their money like pretty much every other rich person?

I love in a Buddhist-majority country. Stories of children remembering their previous lives used to be common tabloid fodder here a generation ago. Not one has stood up to scrutiny. Mostly they were the work of venal or sensation-seeking parents or guardians. You don't hear so many nowadays.

The Buddha himself, incidentally, taught that neither the personality or its memories survive the process of rebirth.

Don't you go calling smart people ignorant .

The notion of being able to retrieve memories of past experiences from the spirit is somewhat of an axiomatic truth in esoteric traditions. The lower self doesn't remember, the higher self does. This knowledge is retrievable.

That is a consequence of the dominance of religion in your country. Either way, someone making up stories trying to authenticate their religion says nothing about genuine cases where young children have intimate knowledge of dead people, information that wasn't even available to the public. That is beyond 'rational' explanation, ignoring it is the only option.

And there was nothing smart about that frivolous comment, it was just a routine dismissal without explanation.
