If Elon Musk is not toiling away on pressing SpaceX or Tesla projects, he’s evidently working on other moonshots. Of late, it seems, he’s been occupying his limited free time with neural lace.

It would mean giving the brain a new electronic layer that would work with artificial intelligence to instantly access online information. It would also stop us from becoming overrun by our advancing AI overlords.

Neural lace is, in effect, a computer interface woven into the brain. The idea dates back to science fiction author Iain M. Banks’s Culture series: In these, neural lace basically enabled its bearers to access Google in thought. As the neural lace grew with the brain and understood each recipient’s brain’s makeup, it could also restore consciousness after bodily death. The lace picks up on neuronal communication but does not necessarily interfere with the signals.

Hypothetically, neural lace systems could wirelessly transmit signals to external devices; instead of typing clumsily on a smartphone’s keyboard, we could think our messages into existence. Another, seemingly more ambitious use would flip the switch, and allow the lace to communicate with neurons via electrochemical stimulation. Traditional learning would become a thing of the past — think Neo learning Kung Fu in the Matrix.

Musk says that, since neurons depend on constant blood flow to function well, a neural lace could be injected into the jugular and then carried, via blood, to the cortical neurons. Such a procedure, though frightening in theory, would be far less invasive than brain surgery. Scientists already figured out how to do so in mice, and hope to do so for humans, too.

Elon does come up with good ideas usually. I don't think I approve of this one. I guess I could be wrong but what if someone hacked into your brain and stole your consciousness?

What do you think, do you want Neural lace ATS?

People like Elon Musk and Ray Kurzweil are bats*** insane with their notions of merging Human consciousness with AI tech.

Do not get me wrong, there will be plenty of people who choose to run with this literal matrix because of all the well played programming that has been going on and will continue to.

I and many others will not be tuning into this virtual reality world, one in which you can be controlled so easily.

We are already miraculous and have the potential for so much, it simply takes discipline.

All these promises of super human abilities and immortality are the height of hubris and science will certainly bring about its own downfall due to its separation from spirit!

He did say that it could, but not that it would. And this is not AI. This is neural interface systems in embryonic form. Different issue altogether.

If I had a billion dollars, I would invest in a research firm that advances stasis / cryogenic storage so I could experience where all this is heading. the future, if things dont turn disastrous, is going to boggle the mind of the average person today I imagine, and I would quite like to see and participate in that.

Yeah. This guy gives me bad vibes and always has. I don't like him. I don't trust him. I think he's just another mad scientist who thinks it's his purpose in life to use his talents and skills to control people.

Even if their intentions are good, such people are usually arrogant, egotistical and really only interested in what they think the world should be. This kind of tech should be avoided at all costs.

Couldn't that open a door, potentially allowing AI to control the "host brain", or at least influence it? Or could they technologically make it a "one-way" connection?

I am kinda confused by all this but he says in this video (at the 1:40 mark) that its a AI layer on the brain.

As he says a "digital layer above the cortex" this is insanity people.

They have blocked the pineal gland with all of the neurotoxins they have saturated our food/water with, can you imagine what this would mean for the individuals soul?

If you truly wish to make humanity into robots, you must remove their connection to their higher awareness, experienced as intuition.

Thank you for sharing this gmoney, I had my reservations Elon Musk and this simply confirms them.

Again these people are bats*** insane!

It's just a beginning for the plan of "Russia 2045-Singularity".

Is that a reference to this?

Kurzweil is referenced in the article, I am curious where Russia come in to this equation!

Yes, that's it.

The 2045 Initiative is a nonprofit organization that develops a network and community of researchers in the field of life extension.[1][2] It was founded by Russian entrepreneur Dmitry Itskov in February 2011 with the participation of Russian specialists in the field of neural interfaces, robotics, artificial organs and systems.

Initially the news was quoting it as Russia2045, looks like "2045 Initiative" is a better term.

Good God that website is terrifying!

It has a freaking immortality button offering you to begin building your own immortal avatar!

Such lunacy could only come from the ignorance of our own spirit.

We are currently in an avatar of divine creation, our spirit is immortal, it blows my mind that people have become this disconnected.

Another step that science is currently trying to do is harness consciousness.
IMO the people(non elites) won't be included whether they want to or not. It's really a step for the elites, let 'em go be digital in their path for immortality, leave humanity and the planet be. If the grids crash they better hope they have numerous backups that can't be accessed.

Elon does come up with good ideas

He does, but this isn’t one of them.

The neural lace, in both concept and name, was invented by the late, great Iain M. Banks.

I was thinking of this just today. In terms of reducing waste stasis technology is IT. Humanity would profit so much, imagine all the millions of tonnes of food that gets wasted or thrown away. I want stasis technology in my fridge.

If I had the power this is one technology I would sink billions and billions of dollars into.

I didn't consider the more practical day to day uses of stasis, but thats a good point. such advancments would have (and require) commercial uses. Fridge tech would be great if it could keep that pound of roast beef good indefinately.

I was of course considering more the use of bypassing death and just being frozen until such a time as whatever killed you can be reversed, cloned, etc.

We need more people like Elon on earth.

What if you're wrong?

If it was possible to basically create virtual heaven on earth here, and you found out that all the mystical spiritual stuff you believed in was 100% incorrect and it was literally just lights out forever when you die, would you suddenly see value in this?

Avoid the temptation of just rejecting these questions by saying something goofy like "I know I am right"...just spend time contemplating the questions as presented then answer honestly without trying to interject how ghosting in the end is real.
