Bleak Road

Propulsion of insanity to our histories delight.
We've all the time needed to get it right.
Down familiar paths we will travel,
Only to find familiar gravel.

Reload the mortars and sound the horns.
A new year booms with repeating moans.
Wave your flags and hang them high,
but not above the wails and cries.

This will be different from the years gone past
This time we have the sacrosanct genitals at last!
Honor the living but not the dead,
Into progress we must tread.

Abolish the thought of dread and fear.
No more the world is aloof and queer.
It's all been settled, take my word.
Never has their history been absurd.

Freedom wanes and profits soar,
Pay your taxes, then pay some more.
This path has already been blazed.
Are we going to do it again sane or crazed?

Interesting insight. It does seem 'this progress' has taken on its' own life. Faster, faster, smaller better, gotta have it, can't live without it......NOW is that a scary thought?
