He had a special license for it, possessed it legally, was not on a watch list (anymore) or a no flylist.
What are the requirements for that special license?
Do you think he could have killed as many people if he had had a handgun?

...and rapiers.

Is this a dirty thread?
Sorry. Had a Finnegan moment.

I don't know all the requirements, I know it involved his security work. He did have a handgun, and killed people with it. If he only had the rifle he may have killed less people.

Right?

It could get that way quick.

What with the nature of the "weapons", and all; "Shooting" their "wads".

And rapiers? Yeah.

It really does come down to that.

I spent a reluctant morning ensconced amongst California's Car Culture, for like, 90 whole minutes.

So I am up for these sort of analogies.

Awesome inference!

The entire thing seems very contrived to me. None of it makes sense. One shooter fired over 1000 rounds in mere minutes? It makes no damned sense.

An educated shooter (suicidal or not) will have an escape plan. This dude had none. It was a suicide mission, or a set up.

With this government, I have odds on it being a set up...

Why would a suicidal shooter have an escape plan?

The most suicidal man will still plan his own survival. It is human nature. I spent many years as an "anti-terrorism specialist"... wanna know what I learned?

Stay out of the middle-east.

I don't think he committed suicide.

I think we should probably get back on topic however, "AR-15's are NOT designed to kill."

There are already plenty of threads about the Orlando shooting with some interesting info.

The AR-15 would be my choice of weapon to fight off an invading force primarily because of its long range effectiveness. Most of our enemies use AK style weapons which have less of an effective range.

The AR-15 would not be my choice of weapon to clear a room, it would be a shotgun and or 9mm pistol.

For the money, get a Soviet SKS. Accurate and deadly to 500 yards and they will fire with 10 pounds of mud in the action. The Soviet SKS also has a chrome lined barrel. The AK gives up accuracy for rate of fire.

And you need to get a dictionary so that you can comprehend the phrase "All of which is too voluminous to rebut."

That being said, just to show that I can accommodate even the most misguided request:

The Second Amendment and it's explicit language demands and insists that citizenry have ownership of firearms in order to function as a militia (military) when necessary. It does not preclude other functions such as hunting and self defense. Another consideration is that our Founding Fathers were blessed with an interesting advantage over our English tormentors... That the firearms used by the colonist militias and Continental Army were vastly superior to the king's army; a distinction that the Framers clearly understood, and would embrace current civilian ownership of military issue weaponry without equivocation, as the Second Amendment is the only thing that stands between what little liberty we have left, and the tyranny that those in power wish to impose.

When it comes time to refresh a certain parched tree, the citizenry must have the very finest instruments to accomplish that task...

Where is the line drawn? Nukes? Bio weapons. Or just something with gunpowder? Like a huge bomb? Military stuff Bro.

Man, those last two lines of the Star Spangled Banner really don't play today. Land of the free? Home of the brave? Looks like fear to me.

That tree is so thirsty right now any instrument even blunt objects could water it.
