They stepped through the dark mist that shrouded the land, Kaelci unable to stop a shiver from forming within as her flesh broke out into tiny goosebumps, Darien’s nonchalance dissipating with every stop that they took, and soon they reached the edge of the lake.

The waters of the lake had once been clear, beautiful, a gleaming aqua jewel in the midst of this forest clearing! Now they were dark, murky, and she hesitated at the water’s edge… uncertain as to if they should actually enter such horrific water.

Kaelci sent Darien an apprehensive glance and sullenly, he nodded. She cringed and scrunched up her face before lowering her head, and together they slowly stepped into the polluted waters, struggling to swim through the viscosity of the liquid, the sticky water forcing them away from their goal.

She bobbed up and down, determined to not allow her face to go beneath the surface, and sighed forlornly.

“This… liquid! It won’t let us through.”

“Never fear, dear lady.”

Darien muttered a few of his words from the long lost language of the Magisters, and before long the thick brown water parted and they were able to make their way through to the rocks that led to the cave; the once calming waterfall no longer flowing. As they reached the rocks, Kaelci wondered aloud.

“I must learn those words one of these days…”

Darien bounded up the rocks and stood tall in the cave, quickly offering Kaelci a helping hand as she reached the last of the boulders and rocks.

“I could teach you, one of these days! But first… I believe there’s an encounter we must survive.”

We needed a coat of paint!
I'm determined to NOT let them wander the caves for days, I feel the need to wrap this up

I have a feeling the next entry will be rather long *shifty eyes*
