I would think almost any fan of Western music would have a favorite U2 song. Please post a YouTube video that features the song, if possible.

My favorite U2 album is "Achtung Baby." My favorite song by U2 is "Gone."

"Achtung Baby" is my favorite, followed by Joshua Tree. Favorite song is "New Year's Day". The Edge kills the guitar on that song. That being said, The Edge kills the guitar period.

During my outdoor phase, when things were down, this was a comforting tune…

For me I dont think you can go wrong with The Unforgettable Fire as the album.. en.wikipedia.org...

As for the song I picked All I Want Is You..Just an honest, powerful, heartful song...
This specific version is from their live show at Slane Castle and transitions into Where the Streets Have No Name...What I have always connected with is the sort of purging wailing that Bono goes through during that transition as I remember reading his father had passed away right before that show.

Used to be Achtung Baby (love Gone btw) but there is something about All That You Can't Leave Behind that gets to me (Kite and In A Little While are devastating back to back on those days when you are remembering someone lost).

I also like this particular track for the lyrics and its simplicity (song arrangement). Who would have thunk that two chords could be so haunting?

U2 - Miss Sarajevo

Disclaimer - I have a black, "fat head" strat and a Gibson Explorer (no pick up covers) and several digital delays (we played Where The Streets Have No Name, back in the day). No Vox (MesaBoogie Maverick that does a good approximation!). Big fan of Edge... if you couldn't tell!

No favorite album, but The Sweetest Thing is my favorite song. They just are too political for my taste.

Like others, I'm not a big fan, but it would have to be Joshua Tree.

However, I think their best song is from the Zooropa album -

.... but that could be because it's Johnny Cash singing!

U2 have recorded some brilliant tunes.

First saw them live back in '82 at Gateshead supporting The Police.
Gang of Four and Lords of the New Church were also on the bill - great day if memory serves me right.

They've that many great songs that I couldn't actually list just one favourite - I guess they change with my moods etc.

I guess Bono can be a bit of a prick at times, but sometimes he hits the nail right on the head....and no-one can doubt his good intentions.

I could easily have listed another dozen or so songs.

Guess The Joshua Tree is my favourite album - every track is truly excellent.

Big fan of their first 3 albums back when they were a snotty post-punk outfit.
Everything up to Achtung Baby is great and I love the experimentation of Zooropa.
Lost interest after that.

Favourite tracks...
