That's insane. So basically Russia can just do whatever the f*ck they want cause they have the technology and capability to pull a genocide on any country that stands in the way.

Thanks for breaking it down and sharing all of that information.

So can any country with ICBMs. There are no reliable antimissile systems capable of stopping an ICBM out there. Many that claim they can, and may even stop a few, but no one can stop a large number of missiles.

More importantly they had something like a 3 or 4 year window of opportunity when no one else had nukes.

They could have nuked every potential enemy country into oblivion.

History would be very different now if stalin had 3 years to nuke other country's.

Well, the idea is that they aren't insane...

Mutual assured destruction, or MAD, is a doctrine of military strategy and national security policy in which a full-scale use of nuclear weapons by two or more opposing sides would cause the complete annihilation of both the attacker and the defender (see pre-emptive nuclear strike and second strike).

It is based on the theory of deterrence, which holds that the threat of using strong weapons against the enemy prevents the enemy's use of those same weapons.

The strategy is a form of Nash equilibrium in which, once armed, neither side has any incentive to initiate a conflict or to disarm.

Mutual assured destruction

Thanks, That's a really good read and a very detailed document. In that document Soviet leadership even admitted "Nuclear use would be catastrophic." back in 81'. And that's the truth, nobody wins a nuclear war between Russia and United States.. There's so many different ways to attack with Nuclear weapons, Even if Russia thinks that they can sneak attack a country like The United States into Oblivion.. Or any other country unless it's warranted. They're fooling themselves because we would hit them with everything that we have left, Which would still be enough.

It's anybody with a substantial ICBM force. Certainly US and Russian and China, maybe even UK & France to a more limited extent.

A ballistic missile submarine is truly frightening and virtually unstoppable. The launch point would not be precisely known, and the time of flight even shorter. The missiles would not re-enter quite at the same velocity as a long-range land-based ICBM but still damn fast.

The US rough equivalent to the RS-28 "Satan" in strategic capability is the Trident D5. (That's what was test-launched off of Los Angeles a few months ago.)

Russia concentrates more on land, US on sea & air.

I completely agree with you on Submarines, You wouldn't have much time to react or attempt a counter on the SLBM. It's coming from the unknown and probably a closer distance then the ICBM.

I remember hearing about a launch a few months back off the coast of Cali. It all makes sense now..
It's good to know that we have a new version, I'm gonna check out that Trident D5 when I get a chance.

Thanks.

Not quite, the US probably had a few dozen or less A-bombs by 1949.

Even still Stalin and his cronies took over most of eastern Europe and installed Communist dictatorships.

History would be very different now if stalin had 3 years to nuke other country's.

No #. Paris and London would have hostages to Communist takeover of all of Europe, the Red Army occupying from Cornwall to Alaska.

Satellites do not use radar to detect an ICBM launch they use infrared.

I will one up that. THERE ARE NO SATELLITES!!!! Everything is tower based off the U.S. Loran system. They even admit that Europe uses Loran-E. The latest digital system.

This is why all these commercial planes away from North America and Europe can not be tracked or found when they crash.

Nothing can go higher than 73 miles as many videos prove this. Rockets slamming into something at that altitude. Every NASA launch from the Cape has gone up and turns out to sea never coming close to space.

www.youtube.com...

NASA, the TRILLON dollar LIE!!!

ICBMS need to be massive fuel trucks to move small warheads so far because they cant go so high as they want you to think. This is why the U.S. is not building them anymore and why Russia is so heavily invested in Cruise missiles. They were big and scary, something the Russians have always done. Go big or go home, that led them to bankruptcy and will again if they are not careful.

The opposite, actually.

When they are making announcements, they are following the generally accepted practice for testing weapons. The more they follow the accepted practices for, well, everything, the less tensions there will be.

Testing ICBM's, without notifying everybody...now that would be terrifying, and possibly war starting.

It's strange how a group of people can persecute gay people because they believe it's against Jesus but then be building something that can destroy the lives of an entire country and even call it "Satan 2".

Jesus Christ taught people to love their enemies and turn the other cheek and pick not up the sword. There would be no wars if people followed these teachings.

Because some people use religion to feel morally superior to others when in reality they are no better than the people they look down on.

Religion is a tool some governments use to hide their asshattery.

When you have the ability to respond in orbit with a DEWs capability what good are ground launched missiles?
What exactly IS that mini shuttle carrying up there?
Why haven't the MAD policies been logically recalled?

Why, after a certain amount of time, do nations / empires collapse and why, after studying these collapsed empires / nations, do we repeat the very mistakes that caused their downfall?

Arrogance that it wont happen to them comes to mind.

MAD works only when the nations involved have a set moral about the loss of human / civilian life.

I dont see Iran nor N. Korea caring about civilian casualties, either their enemies or their own people, if it means getting in the first and most likely last shot.

A mushroom cloud over Israel would negate the response to the Iranian people in the eyes of the Iranian government. Essentially turning MAD into mad.

There's a few questions that every country in the world needs to ask themselves..

Given the destructive capability of nuclear technology and the advancement's that humanity has made in overall military technology worldwide..

How many nuke's does any particular country need for self defense and why should any country be allowed without limitations the pursuit of turning weapons of mass destruction into Genocidal Weapons ?

What's next Russia? Are you gonna make The Satan 3 "World Destroyer" ?

Actually it is NATO which calls it "Satan" as a codeword, and appropriately so.

NATO has its own codewords for Russian military hardware to simplify communication and understanding. Also, historically, USSR intentionally named and numbered their hardware deceptively.

For instance, fighter planes are all named with F-words, B for bombers, C for cargo, H for helicopters, and M for miscellaneous.

Common Russian fighter planes: Fishbed, Flogger, Flanker, Foxbat, Foxhound, Fulcrum. The Russian Mig-29 drivers liked the name so some started to use it themselves. In Russia, they were numbered by the manufacturer. So equivalent to naming something like MiG-29 equivalent in USA would be NoGru-2, for the US B-2 or GeD-16 for the F-16, but the numbering would be maintained by the manufacturer, the way Boeing numbers & trademarks its commerical aircraft, but doesn't get to override the US DOD numbering for its military craft.

Missiles are given "SS" names and numbers: S-nn "name", e.g. SS-18 "Satan" is the NATO name for Russian R-36M.

Russia, the USA, China and several other nations possess the capability to destroy the entire planet several times over. Economic sanctions against Russia and a flat economy make the nation less threatening than the U.S.S.R. was.
