I don't think they should be assuming that marriage is right for every person. I mean, what if God really wants your kid to grow up to be a catholic priest or nun??

Ohh, that is a really good point.

Except they CAN say no, they do have a choice, even if they feel pressured. My initial reaction is against it, but I will wait and see if it happens and what the actual outcome is.
