Yeah, what he said.

Lol, actually did chuckle at that

Seriously though, an invite only discussion where only the likeminded meet for 'debate' sounds just like a facebook group, lame.
I enjoy debate where alternative opinions abound...even when I've been shot down in flames, that's just life.

I wouldn't pay for it, sounds boring as #, a place for everyone just agreeing with each other lol

It would be financially beneficial in a small way and may free the board from too much critical assessment.
I do think it's fair for those who want a private platform to be considered.
Maybe it's time for ATS to start getting imaginative?

Who said anything about that?

I said that , I see it going in that direction based on the OP comment.

I want to focus on like minds trying to figure things out and grow. NOT deal with the growing pains of others.

Interesting discussion fella, but lets be realistic, it ain't gonna happen.
There's been talk and hints that there would be a UK forum starting for years, I'll believe it when I see it lol

...I'd imagine an invite only pets forum will start before anything else

You could always try and join the Research Forum

I don't know what it takes to become a scholar, but that is the type of thing you seem to want.

As long as it gets tucked away behind a paywall or some other non-searchable part of the site. It would be a sad day indeed when Before It's News is considered the sane and sensible version of ATS.

The recent "NASA Official/Child Porn" thread is cringe-worthy enough as it is. It takes a lot for me to say "Screw it, stew in your own insanity" but somehow they managed it. If that had been the first thread I ever saw on ATS, I would have closed the window and never come back.

The more I think about it the more i think it should happen.
There could be more commercial avenues by providing a subscription model with 100% control of your content.
The standard ATS could benefit?

I'd imagine an invite only pets forum will start before anything else

Buy some cheap hosting, install forum software and you can have all the private threads desired.

The whole idea seems to go against what most here say they feel about speech out in the real world.

"Before It's News" will never be accepted as sensible on ATS lol... Having a private platform wouldn't stop the activity of those members on the board.
I'm new myself so I'm only learning to avoid certain threads, post in some and just follow and read others.
personally it's been a positive experience, I never get emotionally involved but I do see many looking for more stimuli.

User groups instead of invites.

User groups would be a forum wherein:
-to create a user group thread, you must have at least x amount of users.
-to read a user group thread, you must belong to said user group.
-to post in an already existing user group thread, you must belong to said user group.
-leaders of said user groups would set the permissions for other users.

Since the threads would only be visible to people in said groups, it wouldn't really matter what they were saying.

No a forum where you invite people who have shown a genuine interest in a subject.

So only people who agree with you, you want to avoid the facts!

Also you could see who is just trying to DICTATE a narrative via spam and disinfo.

That would be the OP of such a thread....

What purpose does that serve?

To try and educate them, by pointing out how it is crap! But you want people to be able to post crap and not be called out on it!

No, I mean that the rest of the world will consider it sensible compared to ATS.

In other words, an agreement thread?

Isn't that a contradiction on a discussion forum?

ok I'm a Dumbass

But I still don't get it lol

So everyone can read it but only invited can discuss?

Or is it completely closed up? So you can only read when you are invited?

How then can someone new be genuinely interested in something that he can't see or read and ask for an invite?

but if it is open doesn't this from my first reply still count?

Is it private to participate or also to read?

If it the first I think you can see a lot of opposite threads like we saw an influx last year orso.

The "This is why I yadiyayablabla" immediately followed by a "This is why I DON'T yadiyayablabla"

And if the original thread is invite only to participate and the other thread is open for everyone guess who is gonna run with the idea.
